Because of its wide variety of events, swimming gets a lot of attention during the Summer Olympics every four years. In fact, swimmers like Michael Phelps's performances buoyed television ratings for the Summer Olympics in years past. Because of that interest, legal sportsbooks offer action on the events in appropriate jurisdictions. However, not every jurisdiction with legal sports betting allows Olympics betting.

However, the places that ban such wagers are in the increasing minority. As more governments legalize sports betting, the options for betting on the Olympics increase. It's important to understand how those markets work and where to find them. Additionally, information about which athletes/teams look to be the favorites for the 2024 games in Paris is crucial for success.

Olympic swimming odds
US sportsbooks in relevant jurisdictions have posted Summer Olympics swimming odds. We will update them below throughout the Paris games.
Team USA counts Ryan Murphy among its best hopes for medal wins in Paris this year. Murphy has won four Olympic gold medals already and currently holds three world records. Bobby Finke is also expected to be in the mix for gold as he won two gold medals in Tokyo (1500 and 800).
Women's swimming
Team USA icon Katie Ledecky is back in the pool for another Olympics run in 2024. Regan Smith, who won three medals, including a silver in the 200-meter butterflly in Tokyo in 2021, also figures to represent the US well. Eighteen-year-old Katie Grimes, who owns four world championship medals, is looking to win her first Olympic medal.
How to bet on swimming in the Olympics
Swimming betting in the Olympics is popular because unlike with other sports like gymnastics, the results of each race are objective and obvious. The fastest swimmer/team wins. Because of that format, there are many different ways to wager on these events. Perhaps the most popular is the moneyline. In those markets, you're simply picking one swimmer or team to touch the wall first. There are 12 individual and six medley events at Paris 2024, so these opportunities will be plenty.
Prop markets might be available as well, according to local regulations and operators' comfort. These might include:
Exact order of finish of competing teams
Individual to win the most medals
Nationality of winning team
Over/under on winning time in an event
Which country claims the most swimming medals
With these markets legal in several US jurisdictions and swimming a popular Olympic sport, the action on this sport could make a big splash this summer.
