Iowa Team Notes
- Won this bowl game in 2022, 21-0, over Kentucky.
- Star RB Kaleb Johnson (1,537 yards, 21 touchdowns) and corner Jermari Harris opted out of this game to enter the NFL Draft.
- There's just one scholarship QB on the roster left: starter Brendan Sullivan. However, he's dealing with injury and Kirk Ferentz hasn't committed to him starting, leaving Iowa with one of the most dire offensive situations among bowl-eligible teams.
Missouri Team Notes
- Star receiver Luther Burden III opted out of this game to enter the NFL Draft, as did starting RT Arman Membou.
- Starting center Connor Tollison suffered a season-ending injury back in early November.
Music City Bowl betting
Last year, Maryland (+4.5) walloped Auburn, 31-13, in one of the more surprising results of Bowl Season. The game made it apparent one team wanted to play in the game and that was Maryland. The teams combined for a paltry 2-11 record against bowl-eligible teams that season.
The 2022 Music City Bowl featured one of the lowest point totals in college football history (31 points) between Iowa and Kentucky. This game was just the first in a long string of Iowa record point totals, all of which have gone under those totals, with the Hawkeyes winning 21-0. Favorite Iowa covered the -3 spread.
Favorites and underdogs tie the all-time series 12-12-1. The last three underdogs to cover–Maryland (2023), Purdue (2021), and Louisville (2019)–were also outright winners. All time, 10 underdogs won outright, but it was a more common occurrence pre-2010. Unders are 14-10 all-time, but overs cashed in four of the last seven outings.
