Where can I bet on the MLB Rookie of the Year Award?
Heading into every baseball season, bettors will find an extensive list of MLB futures markets, including AL and NL Rookie of the Year odds. Legal and regulated sportsbooks like Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM Sportsbook, and BetRivers Sportsbook, among others, have them.
MLB Rookie of the Year odds are fairly easy to find. Look for the MLB or Baseball tab and click on it. Since this is considered a futures market, you’ll need to find the “futures” tab and scroll down until you find the specific odds. All Rookie of the Year candidates are listed with “plus” odds during spring training. There are unknowns as to which players will make the opening day rosters. Sometimes, the players listed will be called up later in the season. Additionally, some of the names posted in March might differ from those in July and August. This could be due to several factors, including a top prospect getting off to a hot start or injuries.
How IS Rookie of The Year Selected?
Baseball Writers’ Association of America members are the ones who determine the American League and National League Rookie of the Year winners. Voters use a weighted point season to select the top rookie in each league. Players are judged on their performances during the regular season. If a player gets called up late in the season and has an outstanding postseason, the latter has no bearing on the voting process.
MLB’s Rookie of the Year award dates back to the late 1940s when Jackie Robinson of the Brooklyn Dodgers was honored. During the first two years, 1947 and 1948, it was presented to the game’s top overall rookie. Since 1949, however, there have been separate awards for each league.
To be eligible for the MLB Rookie of the Year, outside of the obvious, the player must not have exceeded the thresholds during a previous season. They include:
- 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched on the MLB level
- 45 total days on an active MLB roster during the Championship Season (excluding time on the injured list)
