MLB Rookie of the Year Odds

Now that the MLB regular season is underway, it’s time to start talking MLB futures, specifically American League and National League Rookie of the Year betting markets. Top MLB betting sites are offering live Rookie of the Year odds.

In the AL, pitcher Luis Gil (-130) from the New York Yankees has skyrocketed ahead of the field. Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreau (+400) and Oakland A’s pitcher Mason Miller (+650) are next on the board. In the NL, highly touted Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes (-200) is the current favorite over Padres OF Jackson Merrill (+350) and Cub pitcher Shota Imanaga (+475). The MLB ROY odds for 2024 are available from top sportsbook sites. Compare the 2024 AL Rookie of the Year odds and NL Rookie of the Year prices below.

Luis Gil AL Rookie of the Year Odds (-130)

The New York Yankees are one of the World Series favorites and the rookie RHP is one of the reasons why. With reigning AL CY Young winner Gerrit Cole missing significant time due to injury, Gil stepped in and has put up some eye-opening numbers (9-2, 2.77 ERA, and 97 strikeouts over 81.1 innings) that rank him among the top-20 MLB pitchers.

Wilyer Abreau AL Rookie of the Year Odds (+400)

The Red Sox outfielder is another player making significant movement on the AL Rookie of the Year odds board. Abreau was +3000 ar one point this season. After playing just 28 big league games in 2023, Abreau has earned himself a spot in the Red Sox OF rotation. He was briefly sidelined in early June with an ankle injury.

Mason Miller AL Rookie of the Year Odds (+650)

Most news surrounding the A’s this season has been all about their future home. However, it’s hard to ignore the early success Mason is enjoying as Oakland’s rookie closer. Through his first 28 games, Mason had a 2.08 ERA with 14 saves and 60 Ks over 34.2 innings. His save total was one shy of cracking the top 10 among all MLB relief pitchers.

Wyatt Langford AL Rookie of the Year Odds (+850)

Since being selected fourth overall in the 2023 Amateur Draft by the Rangers, Langford is living up to the high expectations by making the MLB opening day roster. Langford, who had a +215 price in early April, is expected to remain very much in the AL ROY conversation, especially if he starts putting up bigger numbers for the defending World Series champs.

Paul Skenes, NL Rookie of the Year Odds (-200)

The top prospect in the Pirates farm system is living up to the high expectations that come with being a No. 1 overall draft pick. Though his first eight starts, the flame-throwing righty is 4-0 with a 2.14 ERA with 61 Ks and just eight bases on balls. If Skenes continues at his current pace, it’s hard to imagine his name won’t remain at or near the top of the NL ROY odds board.

Jackson Merrill NL Rookie of the Year Odds (+350)

While Skenes is the clear favorite, it’s hard to ignore Merrill’s performance, as his NL ROY price was +7000 back in February. The starting OF is making the most of his opportunities in the heart of the Padres lineup with a .289 batting average, 10 HR, and 35 RBI. His 10 dingers were tied for second among all San Diego players.

Shota Imanaga NL Rookie of the Year Odds (+475)

Imanaga is adjusting well to the MLB game. The southpaw is the Cubs clubhouse leader in wins (7), ERA (2.96), and strikeouts (81). Add Yamamoto’s name (see below) to the list, and the National League is loaded with young standout rookie pitchers.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto NL Rookie of the Year odds (+4000)

The Yamamoto bidding sweepstakes is over, and sportsbooks made the Dodgers RHP an early heavy favorite to win the NL ROY award with odds in the +180 to +200 range. With the All-Star break around the corner, his price is now between +3000 and +8000. Yamamoto is 6-2 with a 2.92 ERA through his first 14 starts.

Where can I bet on the MLB Rookie of the Year Award?

Heading into every baseball season, bettors will find an extensive list of MLB futures markets, including AL and NL Rookie of the Year odds. Legal and regulated sportsbooks like Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM Sportsbook, and BetRivers Sportsbook, among others, have them.

MLB Rookie of the Year odds are fairly easy to find. Look for the MLB or Baseball tab and click on it. Since this is considered a futures market, you’ll need to find the “futures” tab and scroll down until you find the specific odds. All Rookie of the Year candidates are listed with “plus” odds during spring training. There are unknowns as to which players will make the opening day rosters. Sometimes, the players listed will be called up later in the season. Additionally, some of the names posted in March might differ from those in July and August. This could be due to several factors, including a top prospect getting off to a hot start or injuries.

North Carolina betting apps are launching in March 2024, meaning bettors in the Tar Heel State will enjoy a full season of MLB futures. Vermont sports betting apps also went live earlier this year, while Kentucky sports betting apps debuted in 2023.

How IS Rookie of The Year Selected?

Baseball Writers’ Association of America members are the ones who determine the American League and National League Rookie of the Year winners. Voters use a weighted point season to select the top rookie in each league. Players are judged on their performances during the regular season. If a player gets called up late in the season and has an outstanding postseason, the latter has no bearing on the voting process.

MLB’s Rookie of the Year award dates back to the late 1940s when Jackie Robinson of the Brooklyn Dodgers was honored. During the first two years, 1947 and 1948, it was presented to the game’s top overall rookie. Since 1949, however, there have been separate awards for each league.

To be eligible for the MLB Rookie of the Year, outside of the obvious, the player must not have exceeded the thresholds during a previous season. They include:

  • 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched on the MLB level
  • 45 total days on an active MLB roster during the Championship Season (excluding time on the injured list)
