MLB Rookie of the Year Odds

Now that the MLB regular season is underway, it’s time to start talking MLB futures, specifically American League and National League Rookie of the Year betting markets. Top sports betting sites are offering live MLB Rookie of the Year odds.

In the AL, outfielder Wyatt Langford (+215) from the Texas Rangers is the early favorite ahead of infielder Jackson Holliday from the Baltimore Orioles (+400) and Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter (+400). In the NL, highly touted Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (+260), who signed a massive contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, tops the odds board. Milwaukee Brewers OF prospect Jackson Courio (+500) and San Francisco Giants OF Jung Hoo Lee (+600) are next. Compare live MLB Rookie of the Year odds below.

MLB Rookie of the Year Odds

The MLB ROY odds for 2024 are available from top sportsbook sites. Compare the 2024 AL Rookie of the Year odds and NL Rookie of the Year prices below.

Wyatt Langford AL Rookie of the Year Odds (+215)

Since being selected fourth overall in the 2023 Amateur Draft by the Rangers, Langford is living up to the high expectations by making the MLB opening day roster. Besides being promoted to Triple-A in his first minor league season, the numbers – .360/.480/.677 in 200 minor league plate appearances – are why Langford is a player to watch.

Evan Carter AL Rookie of the Year Odds (+400)

Carter is only 21 and already has a World Series ring, as the Rangers made the promising player a late-season addition. The outfielder made the most of his 62 regular season at-bats, hitting .306 with five home runs. Carter remains eligible for the AL Rookie of the Year due to not hitting the rookie status thresholds.

Jackson Holliday AL Rookie of the Year Odds (+400)

The Orioles have high expectations for Holliday, and he is one of the early American League Rookie of the Year favorites. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 draft ranks No. 1 on the list of mlb.com’s Top 100 Prospects for 2024. The shortstop/second baseman was a spring training non-roster invitee but is opening the season in Triple-A.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto NL Rookie of the Year odds (+260)

The Yamamoto bidding sweepstakes is over, and sportsbooks have since made the Dodgers RHP an early heavy favorite to win the NL ROY award with odds in the +180 to +200 range. It’s hard to ignore the RHP’s numbers in Japan last season – 16-1, 1.21 ERA with 169 Ks over 164 innings. If Yamamoto does the same versus MLB batters, the +260 might be the best price sportsbooks offer all season.

Jackson Courio NL Rookie of Year Odds (+500)

The Brewers top prospect is only 19 and continues to make major headlines as a future MLB player to watch. He made Milwaukee’s opening-day roster. Based on his 2023 Double-A numbers – .280/.336/.467 with 22 homers and 43 stolen bases – Courio is gifted with speed and power.

Jung Hoo Lee NL Rookie of the Year Odds (+600)

The expectations are high for Lee, 25, who put up big numbers during his seven seasons Kiwoom Heroes of Korean Baseball Organization. The outfielder owns a career slash line of .340/.407/.491, and the Giants have rewarded him with a six-year deal worth $113 million.

Where can I bet on the MLB Rookie of the Year Award?

Heading into every baseball season, bettors will find an extensive list of MLB futures markets, including AL and NL Rookie of the Year odds. Legal and regulated sportsbooks like Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM Sportsbook, and BetRivers Sportsbook, among others, have them.

MLB Rookie of the Year odds are fairly easy to find. Look for the MLB or Baseball tab and click on it. Since this is considered a futures market, you’ll need to find the “futures” tab and scroll down until you find the specific odds. All Rookie of the Year candidates are listed with “plus” odds during spring training. There are unknowns as to which players will make the opening day rosters. Sometimes, the players listed will be called up later in the season. Additionally, some of the names posted in March might differ from those in July and August. This could be due to several factors, including a top prospect getting off to a hot start or injuries.

North Carolina betting apps are launching in March 2024, meaning bettors in the Tar Heel State will enjoy a full season of MLB futures. Vermont sports betting apps also went live earlier this year, while Kentucky sports betting apps debuted in 2023.

How IS Rookie of The Year Selected?

Baseball Writers’ Association of America members are the ones who determine the American League and National League Rookie of the Year winners. Voters use a weighted point season to select the top rookie in each league. Players are judged on their performances during the regular season. If a player gets called up late in the season and has an outstanding postseason, the latter has no bearing on the voting process.

MLB’s Rookie of the Year award dates back to the late 1940s when Jackie Robinson of the Brooklyn Dodgers was honored. During the first two years, 1947 and 1948, it was presented to the game’s top overall rookie. Since 1949, however, there have been separate awards for each league.

To be eligible for the MLB Rookie of the Year, outside of the obvious, the player must not have exceeded the thresholds during a previous season. They include:

  • 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched on the MLB level
  • 45 total days on an active MLB roster during the Championship Season (excluding time on the injured list)
