LA Bowl Hosted By Gronk Odds: Cal Vs. UNLV

The LA Bowl hosted by Gronk kicks off Dec. 18 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT during the 2024-25 College Football Bowl Season. The game, which played its inaugural game in 2021, is held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. This season, the Cal Golden Bears (6-6) take on the Mountain West runner-up UNLV Revels (10-3). Cal opened a -1.5 favorite over UNLV and the point total opened at 51.5.

Cal Team Notes

• Finished with a 2-6 record in ACC play this year.
• Starting QB Fernando Mendoza hit the transfer portal. Backup Chandler Rogers was injured in relief duty during Week 14.
• Ohio transfer C.J. Harris–who has bowl game and conference championship game experience–could be the starter. Expect a nearly run-only approach offensively if that's the case. Otherwise, would be freshman QB E.J. Caminong.
• Watch for star running back Jadyn Ott to opt out for the NFL Draft.
• Could be without three starting offensive linemen: LT Nick Morrow (hurt, will not play), RG Bastian Swinney (probable), and LG Sioape Vatikani (questionable).

UNLV Team Notes

• Head coach Barry Odom leaves to take the vacant Purdue opening.
• OC Brennan Marion removed all mention of UNLV from his socials. Though he has not formally been hired anywhere, it appears he will not be a part of the program for this bowl game
• Watch for NFL-bound receiver Ricky White III to opt out
• Top corner Tony Grimes entered the transfer portal but will play
• NFL-bound LB Jackson Woodard also announced he would play in this game

LA Bowl Hosted by Gronk betting

In the first two years of the LA Bowl, Mountain West teams upended their Pac-12 foe. UCLA broke that streak last year, beating Boise State, 35-22, as 2.5-point favorites. Fresno State crushed Washington State 29-6, easily covering, and the year prior Utah State left no doubt, beating Oregon State, 24-13. Over 46.5 points hit in last year's bowl game, giving unders a 2-1 edge in three years.

The first LA Bowl was played in 2021, where Mountain West Champion Utah State beat Oregon State 24-13.
