About Quail Hollow Club
Standing over 7,500 yards, Quail Hollow Club is a quintessential bomber’s paradise, which has routinely benefited the longest hitters in the field. With narrow fairways, thick and penal rough, and firm and fast Bermuda greens, the Wells Fargo Championship is one of the most difficult grinds on the PGA TOUR schedule and will reward long hitters with a complete game from tee to green.
Compared to the PGA TOUR average, Driving Accuracy and Greens In Regulation percentage are significantly down at Quail Hollow. The sheer length of the course (annually top-4 in terms of total yardage on the PGA TOUR), Quail Hollow Club draws a constant barrage of drivers off-the-tee. The fast Bermuda greens have proven to be tricky to hold from this rough, so elite total drivers like Rory McIlroy, Keith Mitchell, and Jason Day have enjoyed consistent success on these grounds by being both long and straight off the tee.
The greenside hazards and rough are not demonstrably penal here, but the amount of long iron approaches needed on this courses will inevitably produce a few misfires each round, making Scrambling key for contenders.
The course features a unique concentration of eight par-4s over 450 yards, similar to what we would expect to see in a Major championship, so proven results at other long, difficult comp courses is always a helpful reference when handicapping contenders at the Wells Fargo Championship.
Quail Hollow’s final 3-hole stretch, “The Green Mile”, includes a 506 yard Par 4, 223 yard Par 3, and 494 yard Par 4, which always makes for a climactic finish.

WELLS FARGO CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS: BETTING TRENDS, HISTORY
In terms of Course History, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day. and Max Homa highlight the list of players who have repeatedly played well here, suggesting a strong correlation with Riviera CC, and other long, difficult golf courses.
Difficult scoring conditions tend to favor the elite players and weed out the longshots from contending, however that has not necessarily been the case over the years at the Wells Fargo Championship. Of the last 10 winners, three have opened at 500-1 odds and five have opened at 66-1 odds or longer. With that said, this is not an event bettors will want to be over-exposed to longshots, as the course is best suited for in-form players with complete all-around skillsets.

How to bet 2023 Wells Fargo Championship
Once sportsbooks post the Wells Fargo Championship odds, you will likely find an extensive betting menu. However, bettors who like picking an outright winner might take a serious look at Rory McIlroy being that he is a two-time winner, the most recent being 2021. A second option would be looking at McIlroy’s odds to record a top-5 or top-10 finish. Even though the odds will be much shorter, McIlroy will not need to win the event for the wager to pay out.
The same approach applies to Max Homa, who has won two of the last three Wells Fargo Championship events. Granted last year’s event was played on a different course.
Consider looking at which golfers have played well on the Quail Hollow Club course. Maybe one of them is due for a win or a top-10 result. Sportsbooks also offer odds for round leader. In this case only the Thursday or Friday score matters.
