Tahoe Mountain Club Course Trends

The Barracuda Championship uses the Stableford scoring system, a departure from the traditional Stroke Play format of a week to week PGA TOUR Event. Under this format, players are rewarded more points for birdies and eagles, encouraging aggressive play and rewarding players who excel in easy scoring conditions. Tahoe Mountain Club is a fairly long set up as a 7,390 yard par-71, but distance has not proven to be an advantage here over the years. Instead, in-form iron players have proven to create the most scoring opportunities under this set up.

The mid-range of the odds board has proven to be the sweet spot at the Barracuda Championship over the last 10 years, as seven winners over that span have opened between 30-1 to 80-1 pre-tournament odds. In an opposite field event such as this, it's best to avoid players at the bottom of the odds board, and difficult to trust a favorite with no players inside the OWGR top-50 in this field.

How To Bet The Barracuda Championship

With The Open Championship taking place the same weekend, there will be a lot of big names missing from the Barracuda Championship odds board. When looking over the field, remember that this event uses the Stableford scoring system in which eagles and birdies are worth more points while bogeys are more costly.

Like other PGA Tour events, betting on the Barracuda Championship winner is an option. Looking at recent trends, this is one of those events where bettors might want to consider looking beyond the favorites. Chez Reavie, the 2022 winner, had 50-1 odds, while Alex Noren, who finished second, had 18-1 odds to win. The 2021 event was a similar situation, with winner Erik Van Rooyen having 70-1 odds.
