Wake Forest is a favorite against Missouri in the Gasparilla Bowl. Per head coach Dave Clawson, star QB Sam Hartman plans to play in the bowl game. Hartman has another season of eligibility, but could opt for the NFL Draft. Should his status change, this line will move drastically and quickly.
Missouri will play without a top receiver, sophomore Dominic Lovett, who entered the transfer portal. However, the Tigers make their money off their defense, which ranks 35th in points per drive allowed despite playing the 12th-most difficult schedule, per FPI. QB Brady Cook took massive strides forward as the season went along.
Mizzou fields an elite pass rush. Their 9.2% sack rate is ninth nationally, a number that increased to over 12% in their last three games. Schematically, Wake Forests’ offense shouldn’t allow for many sacks, but their nearly 8% sack rate allowed is among the top-third highest in the nation. Expect a mismatch in the trenches for Hartman & Co.
However, three starting defenders opted out of this game for Mizzou: two starting linemen and safety Martez Manuel.
The Demon Deacons went just 1-4 against the spread over their last five outings. Early in bowl confidence pool selections, 73% of entries picked them to win this game. However, Wake’s expected win rate sits at 53.3%, making Mizzou a solid contrarian pick.
Notable Opt Outs
Wake Forest: RB Christian Turner, DB Gavin Holmes
Missouri: WR Dominic Lovett, DL Isaiah McGuire, DL DJ Coleman, SAF Martez Manuel

Last season, Florida was a seven-point favorite over UCF. However, the Knights came ready to play against a lethargic and unfocused Gators team, soundly beating them 29-17. The game was chippy after years of Florida accusing UCF of dodging them on the schedule and birthed a new in-state rivalry. UCF running back Isaiah Bowser took 35 carries for 155 yards and two scores to seal the deal.
Florida was without Dan Mullen, who the school let go of a month prior. It was already announced that Billy Napier would be taking over the head coaching duties for the game, but he would not start until the following season.
At 46 points, the under (set at 56) cashed in this one.
Previous Years
2021 was UCF’s second-straight Gasparilla Bowl win, with the Knights also having won in 2019 (the game was not played in 2020). However, they were 15-point favorites in that game played against Marshall. Before 2021, three straight favorites had cashed, bringing their all-time record to 9-4 in the game. Of four favorites to cover in the Gasparilla Bowl, three of them won outright.
Unders have a slight edge in this one, cashing in 7 of 13 games, and in four the last six outings.

The first Gasparilla Bowl was played in 2008– then known as the St. Petersburg Bowl– where USF beat Memphis 41-14. Besides Gasparilla and St. Petersburg, this bowl has gone under the name “Beef-O-Brady’s Bowl” for a time.
