Boise State is a strong favorite in the Frisco Bowl over North Texas after opening as a 7.5-point favorite. With such a high implied win probability, Boise State will be one of the more popular high confidence pool picks this year.
The Mean Green will be playing without head coach Seth Littrell, who was surprisingly fired following their Conference-USA Championship loss. They also lost their athletic director to West Virginia, which could have led to the firing. UNT is local, with Denton sitting just 45 minutes due west of Frisco, giving them a big travel advantage.
Boise State under RS freshman phenom QB Taylen Green is one of the nation’s most-improved offenses. The 6′ 5″ Lewisville, Texas, product led the Broncos to scoring 34 points per game since taking over in Week 6 and a runner-up position in the Mountain West. North Texas’ defense is one of the worst units in the nation, giving up the 31st-most points per drive in the country and 31.8 points per game (108th).
The matchup of Green and UNT QB Austin Aune represents the largest age gap in any bowl game this season and likely pushes on all-time record breaking. Aune is 29 years old– 10 years older than Green. Aune declared for the NFL Draft, but will play in this game.
Given a mid-level point total () and >75% win probability for Boise State, this is a game that will also land highly on my own bowl confidence pool.

Frisco Bowl betting
Last year, the Frisco Bowl featured a ranked matchup between 12-1 UTSA and 11-2 San Diego State. The Roadrunners were one of the best stories in college football, rising from the ashes to take the Conference-USA title behind Frank Harris, Sincere McCormick, and Tariq Woolen. The latter two skipped the game for the NFL Draft, causing UTSA to drop the game 38-24.
The Aztecs were slight two-point favorites and the over/under was set at 49 points. San Diego State had one of the biggest disparities in offensive and defensive production last season, with their defense stonewalling just about every opponent. However, with 62 combined points, the over comfortably cleared.
Previous Years
Favorites and underdogs split this bowl game evenly at 2-2, alternating every year thus far. Point totals have also evenly split 2-2, though the last two games went over while the first two went under. One of those overs include a 71.5-point over/under set for Kent State and Utah State in 2019 and those teams combined for 92 points. Both underdogs in Frisco Bowl history won outright and coincidentally both scored 51 points.
