Western Kentucky Team Notes
- WKU has won four of five bowls under Tyson Helton, including each of the last three.
- Starting QB Caden Veltkamp, backup QB T.J. Finley both hit the transfer portal. Veltkamp confirmed he WILL play in the game.
- Watch for the availability of two of the team's best players: LT Travon Taylor and CB Anthony Johnson Jr., as both were hurt and missed the CUSA Conference Championship game.
- 10 starters are in the transfer portal and nine won't play. Includes both backups to Veltkamp, two starters on the offensive line, and five players on the defensive line.
- DL in general is extremely thin with transfers
James Madison Team Notes
- This is JMU's second-ever bowl game, losing last year's Armed Forces Bowl against Air Force.
- Finished 0-2 against teams with more than six wins this season (also only played two teams with more than six wins!).
- Starting QB Alonza Barnett suffered an injury and will not play in this game.
- Could also be without its top defender, LB Jacob Dobbs (injury), and left tackle, Jesse Ramil (transfer).
Boca Raton Bowl betting
Last year, USF blew the doors off Syracuse as 3.5-point underdogs, winning 45-0. QB Byrum Brown threw for three touchdowns and USF held Syracuse to 20 total rushing yards. Under 55 points hit as Syracuse didn't uphold its end of the bargain.
Favorites covered in six of 10 matchups and this has been a historically-lopsided bowl game. Only twice has the game ended inside 20 points (2015, Toledo beat Temple 32-17 and last year). Three of the four underdogs to cover the spread also won the game outright – Toledo (+2.5) in 2015, FAU (+7) in 2019, and USF (+3.5) in 2023.
Overs and unders split the last six bowls evenly, though overs have a 4-3 advantage in the seven years of this bowl. The Boca Raton Bowl has seen an 80-point and 78.5-point total and has had three games with over/unders set under 63.5 points.
