Ohio is a favorite over Wyoming in the Arizona Bowl. MAC teams have won 35.6% of bowl games over the last five seasons– the worst mark of any conference by far. That’s reflective in the market movement, which moved the line off its opening mark Ohio -3.5. The over/under is set at just points.
Star QB Kurtis Rourke won’t play for Ohio after suffering an injury in Week 12. CJ Harris finished out the season, but led Ohio to just seven points in a MAC Championship loss. When running back Sieh Bangura doesn’t get loose, Ohio’s offense disappears completely.
The opposing Wyoming Cowboys are severely shorthanded. They dial up runs on 60.5% of plays (13th-most), but are down four of their top rushers, including 1,000-yard rusher Titus Swen who declared for the NFL Draft. Should the Cowboys lean away from their depleted backfield, QB Andrew Peasley completed just 51.4% of his passes for nine touchdowns and eight interceptions this year. Wyoming is 116th in passing success rate.
Further, both of Wyoming’s starting corners and the team’s leading sack recorder, defensive end Oluwaseyi Omotosho, hit the portal. Their leading receiver Joshua Cobbs also transferred.
Despite all of the Wyoming injuries and absences, the market continues to move away from Ohio. In national bowl pools, Wyoming makes an excellent contrarian option as they’re picked in under 20% of entires despite being a growing favorite.
Notable Opt Outs
Wyoming: RB Titus Swen, RB Joey Braasch, WR Joshua Cobbs, DE Oluwaseyi Omotosho, CB Keonte Glinton, CB Cam Stone
