The Denver Nuggets versus San Antonio Spurs game on Sunday is a massive one because, depending on the outcome, the Western Conference playoff matchups could shift in a major way.

If Denver wins, the Nuggets lock in the No. 3 seed and would face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round. In that scenario, the Lakers would stay at No. 4 and draw the No. 5-seeded Houston Rockets, which would create a very different path for both sides of the bracket moving forward. But if Denver loses and the Lakers win, then the Lakers would jump to No. 3, Denver would slide to No. 4, and suddenly the first-round matchups would flip.

That is what makes this game so fascinating. It is not just about one result. It is about how one result can immediately change who plays whom, who gets the cleaner path, and which side of the bracket becomes more difficult. A single outcome on Sunday could reshape the road to the Western Conference Finals for several contenders, not just Denver and San Antonio.

The other layer here is the injury report dynamic. Based on what has surfaced heading into Sunday, it appears Denver may not have much of its normal rotation available outside of Nikola Jokic, who still has reason to get on the floor because he needs to play in order to satisfy the 65-game requirement for NBA awards eligibility. Meanwhile, San Antonio at least has a chance to put more of its core pieces out there, even if some of those decisions may not be finalized until closer to tipoff.

And that is what makes this such an important game to monitor. The bracket implications are huge, but so is the uncertainty around who is actually going to play. On the final day of the regular season, that combination can completely change the playoff picture in a matter of hours.
