The Hurricanes and Hornets have addressed the momentous occasion.
Stadium Sportsbooks Incoming In North Carolina
Locals can expect to see a rollout of these stadiums in the coming months. NC joins the likes of Arizona and Ohio which host retail sportsbooks at the stadium. Fans are able to wager on games at pro sports venues.
“We are extremely grateful for all of the hard work by lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to get this bill to the finish line,” said Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the Hurricanes. “We will now have the opportunity to build a world-class sports-wagering facility to expand the entertainment options around PNC Arena. Our plans will also include a restaurant and bar available to fans every day, helping to spur additional development in and around the arena district.”
While North Carolina had retail sportsbooks before, these were only limited to tribal casinos. With the signing of HB 347 sports betting has expanded bringing more betting options statewide.
“Today is a very exciting day for sports fans across the state of North Carolina,” Read an official statement from the Charlotte Hornets. “We are honored that Governor Cooper chose to sign today’s historic sports wagering legislation at Spectrum Center, and we thank him for his leadership regarding this issue. We also would like to thank the members of the North Carolina House and Senate for their vision, effort and support throughout the process. This legislation provides fans another exciting opportunity to engage with their favorite sports.”

How Soon Can Stadium Sportsbooks Launch?
Like online operators, stadium sportsbooks will need to gain regulatory approval from the North Carolina Lottery Commission. The commission is tasked with setting rules and regulations for the NC sports betting industry.
Teams will apply for betting licenses and likely partner with sportsbook operators. Once these partnerships are approved they can be granted licenses by the commission. Teams will also likely build sports betting lounges for retail books. This is common in other betting markets.
A new wave of sports betting options is incoming in the Tarheel State. The countdown for betting begins.
