Hurricanes Seek To Maintain Momentum
Carolina let the game slip away in Game 1 and struggled for most of Game 2 before regrouping to win in overtime. The Hurricanes now look to build off that momentum and earn a second straight victory by prevailing on the road.

Vegas rallied in Game 1 to steal home ice advantage and had Carolina on the ropes in Game 2 only to let it slip away. The Golden Knights hope to rebound from their missed opportunity and maintain home ice here as they play in front of the home crowd.
In Game 2, Vegas controlled most of the game but faded late, leading to a defeat. The Golden Knights lost shot battle 8-2 in the opening period but skated off with a 1-0 lead at the first intermission. Brett Howden opened the scoring with his 12th goal of the playoffs at 13:33 off an assist from Mitch Marner. In the second period, Vegas held a 9-7 advantage in shots and a 1-0 margin on the scoreboard to lead 2-0 after 40 minutes. Howden scored his second of the night and 13th of the playoffs at 7:23 for a 2-0 margin. Ivan Barbashev and Noah Hanifin drew the assists on the goal.
In the third period, Vegas owned a 14-8 advantage in shots but lost 3-1 on the scoreboard to leave the game even at three at the end of regulation. After giving up three goals in a 5:05 span to trail 3-2, Mark Stone tied the game with his sixth goal of the playoffs at 18:39. Marner and Tomas Hertl assisted on that marker. In overtime, Vegas lost the shot battle 3-1 and gave up the winning goal to end up with the loss.
Carter Hart made 22 saves for the Golden Knights, in a game where both teams finished with 26 shots, in the loss. Hart (13-5, 2.35 GAA, .917 save percentage) is slated between the pipes for Vegas again here.
