2025 NHL Stanley Cup Odds: Panthers, Stars, Oilers Lead Crowded Board

Celebrations for the Florida Panthers’ first Stanley Cup championship are still underway. But it’s never too early to look to next season and sportsbooks lined all 32 NHL teams for 2025 Stanley Cup odds. The Panthers are favored to repeat while the Western Conference finalists, Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers, come up just behind. It’s a crowded board, with nine teams being lined at 15-1 or shorter. The debutant Utah Hockey Club opened with 100-1 odds.
Edmonton () leads the Canadian teams, edging out the Toronto Maple Leafs () and Vancouver Canucks (). Despite closing a 3-0 gap, the Oilers fell short in Game 7, extending Canada’s Stanley Cup drought to 30 years.

In terms of best available odds, the Panthers, Stars, and Oilers lead Stanley Cup futures. But, depending where you shop, you find several different combinations. FanDuel Sportsbook favors the Carolina Hurricanes and Colorado Avalanche over Dallas and Edmonton. They also price the Vegas Golden Knights lower than the rest of the market. Both DraftKings and Caesars line the Stars even with the Panthers at +900.
Even the Minnesota Wild – a team in the middle of the odds board – varies wildly in price, between 31-1 and 50-1.
Last season, the Panthers opened at +2000 while the runner-up Oilers opened at +1100.
Stanley Cup Odds History
Historically, the NHL isn’t a breeding ground for longshot champions. Since 1984, only four teams won the Stanley Cup finals with a preseason price longer than 20-1: the 2019 St. Louis Blues (30-1), 2006 Carolina Hurricanes (60-1), 2004 Tampa Bay Lightning, and 1991 Pittsburgh Penguins (30-1). It is notable, however, that the Blues fell to as long as 100-1 at the All-Star break before turning the ship around in historic fashion.
In that same span, 21 teams priced 10-1 or lower at open captured a championship. The last two seasons broke the streak, but prior to Vegas’ title last year, the Lightning and Avalanche made it a run of three straight 10-1 or shorter champions.
