The Philadelphia Eagles make the short trip to the nation’s capital to face the Washington Commanders in a week 8 matchup Sunday afternoon in a NFC East tilt. We share our Eagles vs. Commanders prediction, break down the odds, and offer our picks for the game.

Philadelphia was downed 38-21 at home by the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night in their previous game. The Eagles failed to cover the line as a 4.5-point underdog in that contest. Washington comes in off a bye last week. The Commanders suffered a 23-17 road loss to the San Francisco 49ers in their previous game October 19. Washington covered the line as a 7.5-point underdog in that contest. The Eagles have won seven of the last 10 meetings between the teams, including a 24-22 home win in the most recent matchup on September 13, 2026.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Commanders Odds

Philadelphia dropped to 2-5 on the season as they were beaten at home by the Dallas Cowboys Monday night. That marked their fifth straight loss after a 2-0 start and they stand third in the NFC East with a 2-5 mark. The Eagles lost three of those games by double digits and are reeling right now.

Meanwhile, on the flip side, Washington is 1-4-1 on the season. The Commanders battled but fell short on the road against the 49ers in their previous game. They do come in off a bye, giving them a rest advantage heading into this contest. Can they earn a season split with the Eagles and climb out of the NFC East basement?

Let’s take a look at the latest odds for this contest, courtesy of Fanatics Sportsbook.

Washington is a hefty favorite at home for this contest. Most of that is centered around all the missing playmakers on both sides of the ball for the Eagles. Philadelphia has back-to-back losses by double diigts. Washington tied the Giants before covering against the 49ers in their last two games. Both those squads are division leaders. Meanwhile, Washington has a hefty 72.22% implied probability to win this contest.

Philadelphia opened the year with a two-point win over Washington. The Eagles followed that with a four-point road win in the final seconds over the Tennessee Titans. Things went off the rails since that point. Philadelphia was pasted by Case Keenum and the Chicago Bears on a Monday night. The Eagles then blew a fourth quarter lead against the Rams and lost a lead in eight seconds to the Jaguars in London. Meanwhile, they were hammered by the Carolina Panthers and the Cowboys the last two weeks.

It’s an ugly injury report for the Eagles, especially on the offensive side of the ball. On the plus side, Saquon Barkley doesn’t carry an injury designation. However, almost all their other skill players are going to be in street clothes this week. Quarterback Jalen Hurts (blood clots), along with wide receivers DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) are all out here. Three of the Eagles’ running backs are on injured reserve.

The Eagles are just 26th in passing offense (177.1 yards per game) and 27th in rushing offense (87.7 yards) this season. Philadelphia has yet to score more than 24 points in a game this year. Meanwhile, they haven’t surpassed 21 points in any of the last five games. Tanner McKee throwing to Hollywood Brown, Darius Cooper, Makai Lemon and Elijah Moore? Hard pass.

Washington is struggling as their 1-4-1 record may attest. They’ve played three quarterbacks this season and their one win wasn’t led by Jayden Daniels. Rather, it was Marcus Mariota who led the Commanders to a 33-31 win over Seattle. Jayden Daniels missed time with a dislocated elbow before returning against the Giants. The Commanders battled the Giants to a tie before seeing a rally fall short against San Francisco.

Washington does have some injury concerns of their own. Terry McLaurin is done for the year. Reports Saturday said that defensive tackle Daron Payne, an anchor of the front four, is done for the year as well. After the bye, Washington at least is getting healthier. Getting a crack at a stumbling Eagles squad could help them maintain their improved play.

For the season, Washington stands 22nd in the league in passing offense (200 yards per game) while they are ninth in rushing offense with 125.2 yards per contest. The Commanders have scored at least 27 points in two of their last four games. That means there at least is some offensive potential on the roster.

Eagles vs. Commanders Prediction: Washington -6 (-115)

While the Commanders are the team with the worse record here, they’ve played the better football of late. Washington is 3-3 ATS this season and stand 1-1-1 straight up at home. Meanwhile, the Eagles are 1-2 on the road and a particularly galling 1-6 ATS on the year. Philadelphia failed to cover in any of the three games they were favored. Their lone cover came in the game in London against Jacksonville, which they found a way to lose in spectacular fashion.

We know the Eagles normally are a good team but these aren’t normal times. One has to wonder if Howie Roseman will be active in the next week-plus trying to unload pieces for draft capital. While McKee is a decent backup quarterback, he’s also playing with backup weapons. Barkley doesn’t have an injury designation but he played just nine snaps last week. Washington, with their bye, got some of their skill players like Stefon Diggs and Chig Okonkwo needed rest. Playing at home, you have to give the Commanders the edge here.
