Saints Sign Chris Olave to Four-Year, $132 Million Extension

The New Orleans Saints made a smart move Thursday afternoon, signing their most established wide receiver to a long-term extension. Chris Olave will officially remain in New Orleans through the 2030 season after signing a new four-year, $132 million extension with the Saints.

That’s significant because after drafting Jordyn Tyson in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Saints now have a young duo that could emerge as one of the best, if not the best, in the entire NFL in the near future. Combine that with the fact that quarterback Tyler Shough is one of the league’s best rising young quarterbacks and has a real chance to be the Saints’ long-term option behind center, and this offense is really starting to take shape.

Make no mistake, the Saints aren’t expected to be a Super Bowl contender this year. But for teams trying to turn things around and eventually get to that point, it requires many quality moves along the way. New Orleans has effectively built an offensive system with two dynamic wide receivers and a quarterback it can trust moving forward.

This move could end up being one of the most important things the Saints have done in recent history. Olave is coming off the best season of his career, catching 100 passes for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns. He was a second-team All-Pro and the centerpiece of the New Orleans offense.

This paycheck is well-deserved. The Saints are also getting ahead of a market where receivers continue to make more money with each passing offseason, and every new contract raises the price.

This is a smart move by New Orleans and a deal Olave has completely earned. Assuming he stays healthy, which has been a problem at points in his NFL career, this is a brilliant move by the Saints and one that needed to happen.
