The first full Sunday of the NFL season brings a loaded slate, which means there are plenty of directions bettors can go when searching for touchdown scorers. Rather than simply taking the shortest odds on the board, there’s value in finding players with clear scoring upside, favorable offensive situations or prices that make the risk worthwhile.

Our anytime TD scorer card today for Sept. 13 features five very different bets. George Pickens and Trey McBride are established pass catchers who should be among their teams’ biggest scoring threats. Pat Freiermuth offers a more specialized red-zone angle. Jeremiyah Love brings home-run ability as one of the most talented young running backs in football. And Cam Ward gives us a true long-shot play at +800.

Here are five anytime touchdown scorer bets worth considering Sunday.

George Pickens Anytime Touchdown (+155)

There’s a lot to like about the Dallas Cowboys offense entering this season, and George Pickens should be right in the middle of it. Dallas has all the pieces to once again be one of the NFL’s more aggressive passing offenses, and maybe even a playoff team. The Cowboys love to air the ball out, and having both CeeDee Lamb and Pickens on the field at the same time creates an enormous problem for opposing defenses.

There’s only so much a secondary can do.

Lamb requires significant attention on virtually every snap, but Pickens proved last season that treating him like a traditional No. 2 receiver isn’t a viable solution either. He was effectively Dallas’ most productive pass catcher for stretches of the season and consistently showed the ability to make plays downfield.

That’s what makes +155 on most sports betting apps appealing.

Pickens doesn’t need the Cowboys to manufacture a specific red-zone play for him to score. His ability to win vertically means he can turn one Dak Prescott throw into six points from almost anywhere on the field. With Dallas expected to have a high-powered offense again this season, Pickens should have plenty of scoring opportunities. He’s an easy player to circle at plus money.

Pat Freiermuth Anytime Touchdown (+380)

Pat Freiermuth isn’t the type of player who needs double-digit targets to make an impact.

Freiermuth has built a reputation as a player who seems to come through in important situations, particularly around the red zone. He may not be a traditional volume pass catcher who piles up receptions every week, but he has the size, hands and instincts to become a major factor when Pittsburgh gets near the goal line.

At +380 on FanDuel, that profile becomes particularly interesting.

Touchdown scorer bets are about finding players who can maximize limited opportunities. Freiermuth could finish a game with only four or five targets and still cash this bet if one of those comes inside the 10-yard line.

Pittsburgh doesn’t need to design its entire offense around him. He just needs to do what he’s consistently shown the ability to do: make a big play when the moment arrives. There’s obvious volatility at nearly 4-to-1 odds, but that’s also why Freiermuth is one of the better value plays on the board.

Trey McBride Anytime Touchdown (+220)

When a player is arguably the best tight end in football, he’s almost always going to deserve consideration in this market.

Trey McBride has become the centerpiece of Arizona’s passing game and one of the league’s most reliable offensive weapons. Regardless of how competitive the Cardinals are this season, McBride should continue commanding opportunities. That matters even more if Arizona struggles.

If the Cardinals are trailing and forced to throw, McBride should be heavily involved. If they reach the red zone, he’s one of the most obvious scoring options on the roster. And if the offense is simply looking for a player who can create something in a difficult situation, McBride is again near the top of the list.

Arizona may not have an easy time against the Chargers, and it could be a season in which the Cardinals spend plenty of games playing from behind. But somebody still has to score their touchdowns. If Arizona finds the end zone Sunday, McBride is one of the best bets to be the player responsible.

At +220, the price is more than reasonable for an elite tight end with his role.

Cam Ward Anytime Touchdown (+800)

Cam Ward is unquestionably the biggest gamble on this list. He’s also the player offering by far the biggest payout.

Ward isn’t a running quarterback in the traditional sense, but he’s athletic enough to escape pressure, extend plays and pick up yards with his legs when things break down. That creates an interesting possibility against the Jets.

Neither New York nor Tennessee enters the season projected as an elite team. This could become a sloppy game in which structure breaks down and both offenses are forced to manufacture plays however they can.

That’s where Ward becomes interesting.

If Tennessee gets near the goal line and the pocket collapses, Ward has the ability to scramble. The Titans could also incorporate designed movement or opportunities where Ward is given the option to keep the football. At +800 on BetMGM, bettors aren’t asking Ward to be Lamar Jackson. They’re simply betting on one play.

A scramble from five or 10 yards out is all it takes, and the payout is substantial enough to make the risk intriguing. Among our five picks, this is easily the biggest long shot, but it may also be the most fun wager on the card.

Jeremiyah Love Anytime Touchdown (+205)

Jeremiyah Love is one of the most fascinating rookies entering the NFL this season.

The No. 3 overall pick brings immediate explosiveness to Arizona’s backfield and has the type of big-play ability that can turn an ordinary carry into a touchdown. His early workload may not be enormous.

Love is expected to split touches rather than immediately function as a traditional bell-cow running back, and he’s also working his way back from an ankle injury. Both factors create some uncertainty entering Week 1. But they also help create the +205 price.

The appeal with Love is that he doesn’t necessarily need 20 carries. A player with his explosiveness can make one defender miss and suddenly be running into open space. That gives him two legitimate paths to scoring. He can get an opportunity near the goal line, or he can create a touchdown himself on a longer run or reception.

There are safer touchdown options on Sunday, but getting more than 2-to-1 odds on a player talented enough to be selected third overall is worth consideration.

Best Anytime TD Bets for Sept. 13

The best anytime TD scorer today options don’t all have to fit the same profile.

Pickens at +155 provides exposure to what should be one of the league’s most explosive passing offenses. Freiermuth at +380 gives bettors a red-zone specialist at an attractive number. McBride at +220 is an elite player who should remain Arizona’s most dangerous receiving option.

Ward at +800 is the long-shot swing based on his ability to create with his legs, while Love at +205 offers explosive upside despite some uncertainty surrounding his workload.
