Steelers vs. Browns Prediction, Odds & Picks for Oct. 1: AFC North Bout on TNF

The Pittsburgh Steelers will face off against the Cleveland Browns in an important AFC North matchup in Week 4. Our Steelers vs. Browns prediction outlines FanDuel odds, betting trends, injuries, and best bets for Thursday Night Football.
The Browns have been one of the NFL's biggest surprises, entering this game at 2-1. They have an uninspiring -17 point differential, though, suggesting their success won’t continue. The Steelers also boast a 2-1 record, although they also have a -7 point differential.
Essentially, we’re looking at a game between two teams who are likely to struggle as the season progresses, but one will move to 3-1 atop the AFC North tonight.
Steelers vs. Browns Odds
Pittsburgh and Cleveland both enter this game with 2-1 records through three weeks. The entire AFC North is tied, adding importance to this divisional matchup. The Steelers are road favorites via FanDuel Sportsbook:

- Moneyline: Steelers (-148) / Browns (+126)
- Total: Over 38.5 (-105) / Under 38.5 (-115)

The Steelers have been inconsistent early in the 2026 season. They have two one-score wins over the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals, but they also lost by 17 to the New England Patriots. Here are some trends for Pittsburgh this week:
- The Steelers are 2-1 straight up and 2-1 ATS this season.
- The total is 1-2 in Pittsburgh games.
- Pittsburgh ranks fourth in opponent red zone TD rate (33.3%).
- Rico Dowdle missed Week 3 and will miss Week 4.
The Steelers have struggled against better defenses this season, while finding success against Cincinnati, whose defense the jury is still out on. They aren’t a team that projects to rely heavily on their offense, so they’ll need to be defense-minded to win.
They brought in Dowdle to split the backfield with Jaylen Warren. Warren looked good in Week 3, but it’s fair to wonder how long he can take on a workhorse role. Luckily, Dowdle looks like he’ll be back soon, but not on Thursday.

Cleveland Browns Betting Trends
The Browns were dominated by the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 before rattling off wins against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers. Truthfully, this is probably already viewed as a better season than most expected for Cleveland. Here are some trends for this week:
- The Browns are 2-1 straight up and 2-1 ATS this season.
- The total is 2-1 in Cleveland games.
- Cleveland ranks eighth in opponent red zone TD rate (44.4%).
- Elgton Jenkins hasn’t cleared concussion protocols yet, and he’s out.
Jenkins missing this game will drastically hurt this Cleveland line. They already don’t feature an outstanding offense, and this could make it even worse. They also have other injuries along the offensive line, but they aren’t expected to keep anyone out of this game.
The biggest key for Cleveland is that they enter this game with a -17 point differential, suggesting they won’t keep winning, even though they're 2-1.

Steelers vs. Browns Prediction: Under 38.5 (-115)
It’s a low total, but the Under is my favorite Steelers vs. Browns prediction.
We have two mediocre offenses, and there’s little reason to believe that will change. Running back Rico Dowdle won't play for Pittsburgh, while Cleveland will be without lineman Elgton Jenkins. They’re two important parts that these offenses will miss in Week 4.
Both teams haven’t found offensive success in the red zone. Pittsburgh, specifically, has been one of the worst red-zone offenses in the NFL, averaging only 0.7 red-zone touchdowns per game. Cleveland isn’t much better, averaging 1.0 per game.
The Steelers and Browns have both found defensive success in the red zone, though. They feature two of the NFL's better defenses at limiting touchdowns once opponents get to the red zone.
This is a game where both teams could be forced to kick field goals rather than score touchdowns, giving the Under an edge. It’s also a divisional matchup, which tends to be tougher, especially when both teams are vying for first.
Best Bet: Steelers/Browns Under 38.5 Points (-115 @ FanDuel Sportsbook)
More Steelers vs. Browns Picks, Props and Best Bets
Here are a few more Steelers vs. Browns betting angles to consider:
- Steelers -2.5 Spread (-120 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) - The Steelers don’t look like an elite team, but the Browns are overvalued right now. They are 2-1, but they have a -17 point differential, and they’ve struggled to find consistent offensive success this season.
- Jaylen Warren Over 16.5 Rush Attempts (-106 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) - Rico Dowdle won't play, and Warren recorded 100% of Pittsburgh’s RB carries without him last week. As small road favorites, the Steelers should look to control the clock and run throughout the game.
- Roman Wilson Over 18.5 Receiving Yards (-114 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) - Wilson saw 100 air yards with DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman healthy in Week 3. He’s seen 241 air yards through three games, and it’s clear Pittsburgh wants to take shots on him.
