The Steelers’ preseason has been an affair against Aaron Rodgers’ former teams, and while they beat the Green Bay Packers, they were shut out by the New York Jets in their last game. In each game, the future Hall of Famer did not see a single snap.
The Bills have been impressive in their two preseason wins against the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns, outscoring them 60-21.

Rookie Drew Allar had the better game, going 11-for-23 for 110 yards with no touchdowns and no picks, while Will Howard was 10-for-15 for 74 yards with no scores and two INTs.
The Steelers may keep four QBs, but if they don’t, Howard may need a much better game to stay on the roster, since Allar is a rookie with an impressive arm. Look for Allar and Howard to get the majority, if not all, of the snaps in the last preseason game.
OK, so getting shut out isn't good, but the Steelers have played good defense in the two preseason games, giving up a total of 26 points.
Pittsburgh has to be sweating a little because of their rushing offense, which has not been stellar in the preseason. In the two games, they have rushed for a total of 170 yards, averaging 3.1 yards per carry. That is not good for a team with a 42-year-old quarterback. Kaleb Johnson may be the odd man out, and the 2025 third-round pick will get his chance to show if he belongs on the roster.
Will Allen Have a Headset?
One of the most intriguing storylines in this game is whether Bills quarterback Josh Allen will call plays for Buffalo. He will not see the field, but the former MVP has expressed interest in being the play caller, and it may happen.
It looks as though Kyle Allen will get the backup job, but Shane Buechele has played well in the preseason. He will get plenty of reps in this game, and if he plays well, he may find a spot on another roster rather than the Buffalo practice squad.
Even with Allen not playing, the Bills’ offense has clicked, scoring 29 and 31 points in the two games.
Rookie fourth-round pick Skyler Bell has wowed in practice, and Josh Allen has sung his praises. He will get his first action in this game and has to produce on the field to make the roster.

While playing nearly all backups in their first two preseason games and with Josh Allen not even seeing the field, the Bills have been very impressive. They have a deeper squad, fewer injuries, and a QB tandem that has looked good.
On the other side of the coin, the Steelers were shut out in their last game, where their D was not bad, but their pass and run games were. Buffalo will play well at home, win, and cover the short spread.

Even with the Steelers getting shut out in their last game, the 35.5-point total is low since the Bills have totaled 60 points in their two preseason games. Buffalo has had better QB play, and the skill players have gotten it done, even if they're mainly backups. This preseason finale will not be a shootout, but it won't be a defensive battle either, so take the Over.
