Cowboys vs. Packers Prediction, Odds & Picks for Oct. 18: Offensive Shootout

The Dallas Cowboys will play the Green Bay Packers in an NFC matchup that could have early implications for the NFC playoff picture. Our Cowboys vs. Packers prediction outlines FanDuel odds, betting trends, injuries, and best bets for Sunday Night Football.
The Cowboys enter this game with a 2-3 record, and they’ve struggled to find any consistency this season. They own a +2 point differential, but their inability to win winnable games has stood out early on.
The Packers have also been an inconsistent team, but they’ve posted a 3-2 record through five games. They have a -8 point differential, and they’re one of the hardest teams in the NFL to project at this point.

The Cowboys have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL in 2026. They have wins over the Washington Commanders and Houston Texans. They also have losses to the New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens. Their worst loss came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Here are some trends for Dallas this week:
- The Cowboys are 2-3 straight up and 3-2 ATS this season.
- The Over is 4-1 in Dallas games.
- Dallas ranks sixth in points per play (0.452) and 27th in points per play allowed (0.439).
- Cobie Durant’s been ruled out, while DeMarvion Overshown, Joey Porter Jr., and Ameer Speed are questionable.
The Cowboys have flashed a high-end offense this season, but the unit has lacked consistency. They’ve recorded 30+ points in three of their games, but they’ve also posted 20 or fewer points in two of their losses.
Dallas isn’t known for an elite defense, and they’ve generally struggled in 2026. Their best game came against rookie Jalon Daniels and the Buccaneers. If their offense can’t find consistent success, they don’t have a defense that’s going to be able to consistently keep them in games.

Green Bay Packers Betting Trends
The Packers have been another inconsistent team, dealing with injuries early in the season. They’ve looked lost at times in losses to the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons. They boast wins over the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Chicago Bears, though. Here are some Green Bay trends for this week:
- The Packers are 3-2 straight up and 2-3 ATS this season.
- The Over is 2-3 in Green Bay games.
- Green Bay’s played more backup quarterbacks than starters in 2026.
- Benjamin St-Juste has been ruled out, and Brandon Cisse is questionable.
The Packers' biggest issue early in the season was their offensive line, which was one of the worst in NFL history. They’ve since added new bodies, and they’ve found significantly more success in recent weeks, specifically against Chicago in Week 5.
This is a defense that has found plenty of success, but it’s important to note who it’s been against. Green Bay has faced several backup or inexperienced quarterbacks, and the Cowboys will easily be the best offense they’ve faced.

Cowboys vs. Packers Prediction: Christian Watson Over 76.5 Receiving Yards
Christian Watson Over 76.5 Receiving Yards is my favorite Cowboys vs. Packers prediction.
Watson’s in the midst of a breakout season for Green Bay. He ranks 13th in the NFL in targets (40), ninth in air yards (506), and eighth in YAC (140). He’s one of the most efficient wide receivers in the league, leading all players with 20+ targets in yards per reception (18.2).
The Cowboys have struggled against wide receivers throughout the 2026 season. They’re giving up 162.4 receiving yards per game to the position, which is the 12th-most in the league. They’re also giving up the seventh-most yards per reception (14.0).
The Packers are relying heavily on their passing game, and that focuses on Watson and Matthew Golden. Watson already has eight receptions for 20+ yards and two receptions of 50+ yards. His downfield role gives him consistent big-play upside, and we’ve seen Dallas struggle to defend big-play receivers in 2026.
Best Bet: Christian Watson over 76.5 receiving yards (-114 @ FanDuel Sportsbook)
More Cowboys vs. Packers Picks, Props and Best Bets
Here are a few more Cowboys vs. Packers betting angles to consider:
- Matthew Golden Over 65.5 Receiving Yards (-115 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) - The Cowboys haven’t performed well against wide receivers this season. Golden leads Green Bay with 604 air yards and 44 targets this season.
- Dallas Cowboys/Green Bay Packers Over 53.5 Points (-105 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) - Dallas struggles defensively and features a high-end offense. Green Bay hasn’t played an offense with the same firepower as the Cowboys in 2026.
- CeeDee Lamb Over 80.5 Receiving Yards (-114 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) - Lamb ranks third in the NFL with 51 targets this season. He boasts an elite combination of 526 air yards and 156 YAC, beating defenses in multiple ways.
