Welcome to my Cowboys vs. Giants prediction for today! Sunday Night Football brings the Dallas Cowboys to MetLife Stadium for a Week 1 matchup against the New York Giants. This is a major early test for two NFC East teams with plenty of attention on them, but very different levels of continuity heading into the opener.
The Cowboys enter the season with familiar expectations. Dallas has plenty of talent, a healthy offense, and another roster that looks capable of making a deep run. The Giants are beginning a new era under John Harbaugh, and while there is real optimism around Jaxson Dart, there are plenty of unknowns surrounding New York’s new staff and key players. Now, let's dive into my Cowboys-Giants prediction!
Cowboys vs. Giants Prediction for Sept. 13
DraftKings has the Cowboys as 3-point road favorites for Sunday night’s matchup. Dallas is -105 to cover, while the Giants are listed at -115 with the points.
The number is not outrageous. New York has home-field advantage, a young quarterback with upside, and enough defensive talent to make life difficult. But this line feels a little light when you consider where both teams stood last season, and the offseason moves Dallas made to address its biggest weakness.
I would make this line closer to Cowboys -5 or -5.5. If the market stays at a field goal, there is enough value to back Dallas at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Cowboys Enter With Continuity
The Cowboys had one of the best offenses in football last season, ranking fifth in EPA per play. Their defense was the problem, finishing dead last in the same metric, but the offense did enough to give Dallas a strong weekly floor.
That continuity matters in Week 1. The Cowboys have their key weapons healthy, and the coaching situation has mostly remained the same. That gives the Cowboys a major advantage over a Giants team installing new schemes on both sides of the ball.
Dallas also showed some defensive improvement late last season. The Cowboys were atrocious against the run early in the year, but they became one of the better run defenses in football during the second half. That progress is worth remembering, especially because the front office has added more talent to the unit.

The Micah Parsons trade created plenty of headlines last year, but Dallas did not leave its defense empty-handed. Kenny Clark came back in the deal, giving the Cowboys a steady veteran presence up front.
Dallas then added Quinnen Williams in a trade with the Jets and brought in Rashan Gary this offseason. Williams gives the Cowboys another high-end force up front, while Gary reunites with Clark after the two spent time together in Green Bay.
The Cowboys also added Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence through the draft. Downs has one of the best floor-ceiling combinations in this rookie class and could make an immediate impact in a secondary that needed more help. Lawrence gives Dallas another young defender with upside.
There is no question the Cowboys need to be better defensively. But the combination of late-season improvement, experienced additions up front, and young talent in the secondary gives this group a much better chance to improve than the market may be acknowledging.

Giants Begin A New Era
The Giants found some offensive success with Dart last season, ranking 16th in offensive EPA per play. However, the Giants ranked 24th in defensive EPA per play, and they enter this season with a largely reshuffled coaching staff. Harbaugh takes over, while Matt Nagy assumes offensive coordinator duties. Denard Wilson and Brian Callahan are also part of the new operation.
There are also significant health questions. Dart’s fearless style creates upside, but it has also led to concerns about whether he can stay on the field. Cam Skattebo is coming off a gruesome injury, and Malik Nabers appears questionable to play. Even if Nabers is active, it is unclear whether he will have a full workload.
The Giants have talent, but the range of potential outcomes is wide. New systems, a young quarterback, and uncertainty around several key skill players make Week 1 a difficult spot to trust New York.

This Cowboys vs. Giants prediction comes down to stability versus volatility.
Dallas has an established offense, healthy weapons, and a defense that made quiet progress late last season before adding Clark, Williams, Gary, Downs, and Lawrence. The Cowboys are not perfect, but they have more continuity and a more complete roster entering Week 1.
The Giants are home, but they are also working through a new coaching staff, injury questions, and a young quarterback who still needs to prove he can consistently stay on the field. I respect the upside of Dart and the talent New York has assembled, but I think this number should be higher.
I'm laying the field goal with Dallas in prime time.
