Chiefs vs. Seahawks Prediction and Odds for Aug. 28: Back Seattle in Primetime Finale
The Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs meet Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium in one of the more interesting NFL preseason finales on the schedule. Seattle enters as the reigning Super Bowl champion, while Kansas City has been the league's defining dynasty and biggest storyline of the past several years. Neither team has won a preseason game yet, but that doesn't mean much when evaluating where these franchises actually stand entering the regular season.
Preseason results are more about individual players, roster battles and schemes than wins and losses. Still, there are trends worth considering when betting these games. For my Chiefs vs. Seahawks prediction, I'm backing Seattle on the road while also expecting these offenses to finally produce enough points to clear a low total.
Chiefs-Seahawks Betting Odds
The Chiefs vs. Seahawks odds have Seattle favored by 2.5 points despite playing this game in Kansas City.

Both teams enter at 0-2, but Seattle has at least shown some improvement offensively. The Seahawks opened with a 17-7 loss to Dallas before scoring 16 points in a 19-16 loss to Tennessee last week.
Kansas City has played two relatively close and low-scoring games. The Chiefs lost 20-12 to the Rams in their opener before falling 16-15 to Tampa Bay last week. The defense has kept them competitive by allowing 20 or fewer points in both games, but the offense hasn't been able to consistently get going.
That isn't overly concerning when Patrick Mahomes isn't playing and the priority is getting the rest of the roster ready for the season. But from a betting perspective, Seattle has shown enough for me to trust the Seahawks as short favorites.

Game Prediction
Neither team has won a preseason game, but that doesn't suddenly mean the Seahawks and Chiefs should be viewed as struggling teams entering the regular season. Seattle is coming off a Super Bowl championship, and Kansas City remains one of the NFL's premier franchises.
This specific game comes down much more to depth and which players will actually be on the field.
The Chiefs have scored only 27 points across two games, and the offense simply isn't the same without Mahomes. That's obviously expected, but it still matters when we're trying to pick a winner in a game where Kansas City will again be relying heavily on players further down the depth chart.
Seattle hasn't exactly been explosive either, but the Seahawks were much more competitive last week and had opportunities to beat Tennessee. They also enter this matchup as the better team overall and have enough depth to win a preseason game on the road.
My Chiefs vs. Seahawks prediction has Seattle winning on the moneyline and covering the 2.5-point spread. It's a short enough number that we really just need the Seahawks to win by a field goal, which feels like a reasonable expectation.
Best Bet: Seahawks -2.5
Chiefs-Seahawks Total Prediction
I'm taking the over 36.5 despite both offenses struggling through two preseason games.
At first glance, the under makes plenty of sense. Seattle has scored just 23 total points, while Kansas City has scored 27. Neither team has been involved in a game that reached 40 total points.
But that's also why I think the number has gotten low enough to create some value on the other side.
We don't need a shootout to get over 36.5, which is the total on most sports betting apps. A 20-17 game gets us there, and by the third preseason game there are plenty of players fighting for jobs and trying to make one final impression before rosters are finalized. That can create more aggressive play and more opportunities for points.
There can also be defensive breakdowns as rotations change throughout the night. One or two explosive plays can completely change a preseason total this low.
The total portion of my Chiefs vs. Seahawks prediction is that the market has overcorrected based on the first two weeks. I'm expecting both teams to find a little more offense and push this game beyond the mid-30s.
Best Bet: Over 36.5
Final Chiefs-Seahawks Best Bets
There isn't much reason for either team to care about finishing the preseason 0-3, but somebody has to win this game. Seattle has shown a little more offensively, and I'm comfortable laying only 2.5 points with the defending champions.
