Chargers vs. Chiefs Prediction, Odds & Picks for Oct. 18: Kansas City Stays Undefeated

The Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs will face off in an AFC West divisional matchup. Our Chargers vs. Chiefs prediction outlines FanDuel odds, betting trends, injuries, and best bets for Sunday’s game.
The Chargers are one of three winless teams left in the NFL. They have a 0-5 record, and they haven’t flashed much this season. They bring a -45 point differential into this game.
The Chiefs have looked elite, as they’re one of three undefeated teams left after Week 5. They’re one of the most complete teams in the league, and they boast a +41 point differential through only four games.

The Chargers have struggled in nearly every phase this season, and there’s very little to like about this team for the rest of 2026. Still, they have been playing slightly better in recent weeks, even if it isn’t promising. Here are some trends for Los Angeles this week:
- The Chargers are 0-5 straight up and 0-4-1 ATS this season.
- The Over is 1-4 in Los Angeles games.
- Los Angeles ranks 29th with an average scoring margin of -9.0 points per game.
- The Chargers have several key players on injured reserve, and Joe Alt, Kayode Awosika, Tre Harris, Derwin James, and Donte Jackson have been ruled out this week.
Los Angeles has struggled every week this season, although they’ve only lost by 13 total points over their last two games after losing by 12+ points in each of their first three. The most concerning losses are to the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders.
The biggest issue for this team is the injuries. They’re without several key offensive linemen, which has contributed to the offense’s struggles. They’ll also be without key defensive players in Week 6.

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Trends
The Chiefs are undefeated through four games, but they’ve had their share of close calls. They own comfortable wins over the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins, but they also own three-point wins over the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders. Here are some Kansas City trends for this week:
- The Chiefs are 4-0 straight up and 2-2 ATS this season.
- The Over is 2-2 in Kansas City games.
- Kansas City ranks third with a +10.3 average scoring margin.
- Rashee Rice and Josh Simmons have been ruled out.
Kansas City has performed well in most areas this season, but their offense has led the way. They’ve scored 30+ points in three of their four games, scoring only 24 points against the Miami Dolphins. The offense has been Kansas City’s biggest strength.
The concern with Rice and Simmons being injured is how Rice’s absence could affect the offensive game plan. Their defense has been vulnerable at times, although they have the ability to shut down opposing offenses when everything is clicking.

Chargers vs. Chiefs Prediction: Kenneth Walker Over 19.5 Rush Attempts
Kenneth Walker Over 19.5 rush attempts is my favorite Chargers vs. Chiefs prediction.
Walker boasts one of the best roles in the NFL. He’s the focal point of the Kansas City offense, averaging 21.8 rush attempts per game. He’s recorded 22+ rush attempts in three of his four games, recording only 18 against the Miami Dolphins.
The biggest key for this play is the matchup. Los Angeles has limited opposing backs' efficiency, but running backs are averaging 25.4 carries per game against the Chargers. We’ve seen J.K. Dobbins (18), Emanuel Wilson (21), James Cook (24), Ashton Jeanty (21), and Tyler Allgeier (17) receive significant rushing volume against them.
The Chiefs are coming off their bye week, meaning Walker is currently at full strength. They’re roughly a touchdown favorite in this game, and Kansas City should lean on their star running back.
Best Bet: Kenneth Walker over 19.5 rush attempts (-114 @ FanDuel Sportsbook)
More Chargers vs. Chiefs Picks, Props and Best Bets
Here are a few more Chargers vs. Chiefs betting angles to consider:
- Kansas City Chiefs -6.5 Alt Spread (-142 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) - Los Angeles looks lost, as they continue to deal with several key injuries on both sides of the ball. Kansas City is the better, healthier team, and I’m getting the number below a touchdown as a parlay piece.
- Keaton Mitchell Over 15.5 Receiving Yards (-114 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) - The Chargers are giving more snaps to Mitchell, and he’s seen 3+ targets in three straight games. Kansas City is giving up the 10th-most receiving yards (36.0) per game to opposing RBs.
- Oronde Gadsden Over 13.5 Receiving Yards (-114 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) - The Chiefs are giving up the third-most receiving yards (84.5) per game to opposing TEs. I prefer Gadsden to Charlie Kolar here.
