Raiders vs. Jaguars Odds: Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under

When using the Raiders Jaguars odds table, click the dropdown menu and select the type of bet you wish to make –  spreads, totals, and moneylines.

Betting the point spread is when you wager on how many points a team will win or lose by. A plus sign in front of the spread denotes the underdog, and a minus sign denotes the favorite.

In this case, the Raiders would have to win by at least 2 points if you bet them to cover the point spread (-1.5). Conversely, a spread bet on the Jaguars would need Jacksonville to either win outright, or lose by 1 point (depending on the spread you bet), or tie in overtime.

Betting the moneyline is simply betting on which particular team will win a game.Wagering on the game total, or over/under, is simply a bet on how many total points the two teams will combine to score in a game.

Raiders at Jaguars Betting Insights

Why The Raiders Can Cover The Spread

A flu bug went through the Raiders locker room ahead of last week’s pitiful performance at New Orleans when the Raiders offense generated just 183 yards offense at 3.3 yards per play in a 24-0 defeat. The Raiders stayed East in Florida this week to save travel and lag. The Raiders have shown flashes of better play including in a 30-29 loss at Kansas City in a game they led 17-0 for the second time this season and lost. The Jaguars have allowed 400 yards per game at 5.9 yards per play over their last three contests. Jacksonville also has more travel than the Raiders this week returning from London. The Jaguars are finding more ways to lose while also playing poorly on special teams with a bottom-level ranking

Why The Jaguars Can Cover The Spread

Jacksonville is averaging 21.5 points per game (20th) due to mistakes by QB Trevor Lawrence. A bright spot for the Jaguars the last three games has been Travis Etienne, Jr. The second-year running back and No. 1 pick last year has had three consecutive games of solid rushing numbers gaining 86 yards vs the Colts, 114 vs the Giants and 156 last week in London vs the Broncos No. 1 DVOA defense. Etienne has two rushing TD’s in those games while averaging 7.4 yards per rush. If last year’s No. 1 overall pick QB Trevor Lawrence can stop throwing INT’s, fumbling and be more accurate with his passes (58% of less 4 of last 5 games), then the Jaguars will move forward and win many more games. The Raiders defense ranks No. 29 in the league in defense DVOA including No. against the pass.

Reasons To Bet The Over

That No. 29 DVOA defense of the Raiders has seen teams come back from big deficits and torch them. That includes the Chiefs in a 30-29 win and Cardinals in a 29-23 win. The Raiders defense has a low pressure rate on quarterbacks, and Las Vegas is allowing 366 yards per game and 5.8 yards per play to rank in the bottom quartile of the league. Jacksonville’s defense has been worse than that over the last three games. Texans QB Davis Mills had his best game of 302 passing yards against the Raiders and Houston ranks No. 31 in DVOA offense and No. 20 in passing DVOA. The Broncos bewildered offense ranking No. 27 in DVOA offense scored a season-high 23 points against the Raiders.

Reasons To Bet The Under

Both teams figure to lean on their lead running backs and especially earlier in the game. The Raiders are off a shutout loss and have scored 1 TD in the first half of their last two games. The Jaguars scored 17 points in each of their last two games and a first half under may be a preferred as well.

Raiders at Jaguars Props: Matchups to Watch for

Hunter Renfrow vs Jaguars secondary

Davante Adams is the Raiders top receiver and QB Derek Carr’s go-to guy, but Pro Bowl slot receiver Hunter Renfrow figures to be targeted more this week. Jaguars CB Darious Williams  is allowing 1.42 yards per slot cover snap ranking 17th out of 23 qualifying nickelbacks.

  • Receiving Yards: O/U / ()

Travis Etienne vs Raiders run defense

Etienne has really emerged and shined the last three games as noted above. He’s gained more yards each game – 86, 114 and 156 – while averaging 7.4 yards per rush the last three contests. The Raiders run defense has been top 10 in yards per game allowed (110) but worse over their last three contests and No. 18 in DVOA rush defense.

  • Rushing yards: O/U / ()

Derek Carr vs Jaguars defense and secondary

Carr was pulled late in last week’s 24-0 loss at New Orleans. He had the worst game of his career with 101 passing yards. The Raiders quarterback is an iron man, but he aggravated a back injury more during last week’s game and admitted it affected his mechanics, performance and was “battling through and dealing with it.” Don’t count on Carr being fully healthy or at his best against the Jaguars No. 22 pass defense DVOA, and another slow start could get him pulled for backup Jarrett Stidham.

  • Passing yards: O/U / ()

Final thoughts

The Jaguars are 0-6 in one-score games this season, and there is little margin for error this week with a near pick ‘em spread. Jacksonville will be a more popular teaser option with the chance to move the point spread to +7.5 or +8 as a home underdog.

Best of luck handicapping Raiders Jaguars odds.
