Here is more betting information on key NFL Week 8 games.
Minnesota Vikings (-3) at LA Rams (+3)
The Vikings took a tough 31-29 loss to the Lions at home coming off a bye. Minnesota allowed a game-winning drive late and generally performed below the standards they’d set on defense. The Rams didn’t get Cooper Kupp back on the field but were able to do enough to squeak by the Raiders, 20-15. They could have both Kupp and Puka Nacua back for this game, a development that would naturally represent a major boost for the air attack. The total for MIN vs. LAR opened at 46.5 points.
Baltimore Ravens (-10) at Cleveland Browns (+10)
The Ravens flexed their muscle Monday with a 41-31 road win at Tampa Bay. Cleveland fell to the Bengals by a 20-15 score and lost Deshaun Watson to a ruptured Achilles tendon. Nick Chubb did return from last year’s gruesome knee injury and scored a touchdown. Jameis Winston appears likely to take over under center beginning with this divisional clash. NFL Week 8 odds showed that total for this game opened at 42.5 points.
Indianapolis Colts (+6.5) at Houston Texans (-6.5)
The Colts managed to squeak to 4-3 with an ugly 16-10 win over the Colts that featured the return of Anthony Richardson from a two-game absence. However, Jonathan Taylor missed a third straight game due to his ankle injury and could be a game-time decision for this divisional matchup. The Texans nearly pulled off yet another impressive win. However, a late Packers field goal sunk Houston at Lambeau, 24-22. C.J. Stroud threw for under 100 yards and doesn’t seem to be the same quarterback without Nico Collins (IR-hamstring). NFL Week 8 odds initially had the total for Colts versus Texans at 47.5 points.
Green Bay Packers (-4.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars (+4.5)
The Packers had some hiccups but managed to get by the Texans at home by a 24-22 score. Green Bay continues to run a balanced offense between the exploits of Jordan Love and Josh Jacobs. Jacksonville beat up on an inferior opponent in the Patriots across the pond in London. The Jags got the 32-16 win without Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby may have taken ownership of the lead-back role with his 100-yard effort. The total for the game opened at 48.5 points.
Tennessee Titans (+11.5) at Detroit Lions (-11.5)
The Titans started strong against the Bills before fading and losing by a 34-10 score. Mason Rudolph ran the offense with Will Levis (shoulder) sidelined but didn’t do anything to truly stand out and perhaps put his stamp on the starting job. The Lions recorded yet another noteworthy, high-scoring win. They impressively went into Minnesota and upended the previously undefeated Vikings by a 29-28 score in another game where Jared Goff was close to perfect with only three incompletions. The total for the game opened at 46.5 points, according to NFL Week 8 odds.
Atlanta Falcons (-2.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2.5)
The Falcons are now the favorites in this game after the Bucs were decimated by injury on MNF. Atlanta also had a humbling experience at home this past Sunday. They were throttled by the Seahawks, 34-14 in a game Kirk Cousins was guilty of three turnovers. NFL Week 8 odds show that the total for the game opened at 48.5 points.
New York Jets (-7) at New England Patriots (+7)
The Jets got another infusion of newness this past week with the trade for Davante Adams. However, that still didn’t come close to moving the needle enough in a 37-15 thumping at the hands of the Steelers.
The Patriots continued to look much more cohesive on offense in Drake Maye’s second career start. Despite more strong numbers from the rookie, New England still fell by a 32-16 score across the pond in London.
The total for the game has opened at 41.5 points.
Arizona Cardinals (+3) at Miami Dolphins (-3)
The Cardinals held the Chargers to just 15 points on MNF and used 152 James Conner all-purpose yards to grab the victory.
The Dolphins’ freefall continued in Indianapolis on Sunday. Despite a favorable matchup, the Tyler Huntley- and eventually Tim Boyle-led offense could only muster 10 points and Tyreek Hill was held to a single catch. Tua Tagovailoa is said to be trending toward practicing this week and potentially starting this interconference clash. The total for the game has opened at 47.5 points.
Philadelphia Eagles (+2.5) at Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5)
The Eagles started slow but came on strong to top the Giants, 28-3 in Saquon Barkley’s stellar return to MetLife Stadium. Jalen Hurts finally got his Tush Push mojo back with a pair of short rushing TDs and A.J. Brown also contributed a long scoring grab in the big win.
The Bengals looked out of sorts at times but had enough to get by the short-handed Cleveland Browns on the road by a 21-14 score. Joe Burrow threw for under 200 yards but Cincy’s defense took advantage of an ineffective and ultimately short-handed offense for the ugly win.
The total for the game has opened at 46.5 points.
New Orleans Saints (+7.5) at LA Chargers (-7.5)
The Saints’ swoon continued with a 33-10 home humbling at the hands of the Broncos. Spencer Rattler was working extremely short-handed given the absences of Chris Olave (concussion), Rashid Shaheed (knee) and Taysom Hill (ribs). Shaheed is out for the season and Olave was still in concussion protocol as of Monday.
The Chargers could muster just 15 points in a narrow loss to the Cardinals on MNF. The total for the game opened at 39.5 points.
Buffalo Bills (-3) at Seattle Seahawks (+3)
The Bills overcame a sluggish first half to topple the visiting Titans going away by a 34-10 score. The game featured rookie Keon Coleman’s first 100-yard effort as a pro. Amari Cooper made an immediate impact with a touchdown reception in his team debut.
The Seahawks exploded for 34 points on the road in Atlanta. However, dampening the big win was a knee injury that forced DK Metcalf from the game in the fourth quarter. After several weeks of struggling, Seattle’s defense bounced back in impressive fashion against a talented team but will have another tough test in this matchup. NFL Week 8 odds show that the over/under for the game opened at 49.5 points.
Kansas City Chiefs (-10) at Las Vegas Raiders (+10)
The Chiefs continued their remarkable run in their quest for a three-peat with a 28-18 win over the 49ers. Kansas City lost yet another receiver in JuJu Smith-Schuster to a hamstring injury yet continued undeterred in the Super Bowl rematch.
The Raiders saw Aidan O’Connell exit with a thumb injury and Gardner Minshew struggle mightily in his stead. The veteran tossed three interceptions and took two sacks. Alexander Mattison may have taken ownership of the backfield from Zamir White following a 92-yard performance.
The total for the game has opened at 42.5 points.
Chicago Bears (-2.5) at Washington Commanders (+2.5)
The Bears were initially a +1.5 underdog against the Commanders. But with uncertainty regarding the status of Jayden Daniels (ribs), Chicago is now a -2.5 road favorite in most spots.
The Bears are also well-rested following a bye week. A week prior, they dismantled the Jaguars, 35-16, in London. Caleb Williams was coming on before the bye week and threw four TDs in the win across the pond.
The Commanders continued to roll this past Sunday with a 40-7 thumping of the overmatched Carolina Panthers. Washington got it done without Daniels for the majority of the game. The rookie is considered week-to-week as of Monday. The total for the game opened at 47 points.
Carolina Panthers (+7.5) at Denver Broncos (-7.5)
The Panthers continued to spiral with a 40-7 loss to the Commanders. Coach Dave Canales turned to Bryce Young late for a second straight week and may be ready to give the former first overall pick another shot with the starting role.
The Broncos are seeing Bo Nix continue to develop and are coming off a 33-10 thrashing of an undermanned Saints team on Thursday night. Denver is now 4-3 and appears to have gotten Javonte Williams back on track after a tough start to the season.
The total for the game has opened at 42.5 points.
Dallas Cowboys (+4.5) at San Francisco 49ers (-4.5)
The Cowboys were off for a much-needed bye after taking a 49-7 throttling at the hands of the Lions at home the week prior.
The 49ers continued to be stymied by Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. KC defeated the Niners at Levi Stadium by a 28-18 score despite suffering yet another injury at wide receiver.
The total for the game has opened at 48.5 points.
New York Giants (+6) at Pittsburgh Steelers (-6)
The Giants took another concerning loss on Sunday. They fell at home by a 28-3 score to the Eagles and benched Daniel Jones late in the game for Drew Lock. It remains to be seen if that arrangement will persist into this game.
The Steelers put on quite an impressive show on both sides of the ball in a Sunday night, 37-15 win over the Jets. Russell Wilson shook off rust as the game went on in what was his first start since last season with the Broncos.
The total for the game has opened at 37.5 points.
