NFL Week 6 look-ahead lines are out, and perhaps the game of the year is on tap for Sunday’s afternoon slate. The Bills and Chiefs meet in a rematch of the best (or most heartbreaking, depending on your rooting interest) game of the prior season.

Every week, usually on Friday, TheLines will post look-ahead lines from FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook. These look aheads give an early snapshot of the current market opinions of teams absent the week-to-week bias that can take hold following weekend results.

Week 6 NFL Primetime Games

Thursday Night Football Odds

Currently, the market has not yet slid the Commanders all the way down into the very bottom tier of NFL teams, where the Bears clearly reside.

However, this could finally be the week where that all changes. The team has failed to even come close to market expectations multiple weeks in a row now. They’ve lost two straight by double digits when the line was under a touchdown, and prior to that, the Lions spanked them as very short favorites.

Another convincing defeat at the hands of the Titans and this line could flip to Bears as short favorites even if they lose as expected to Minnesota.

Sunday Night Football Odds

The Eagles enter Week 5 in a little bit of a sleepy spot. They go to Arizona while having divisional rival Dallas on tap, and coming off a big win over fellow upstart contender Jacksonville. However, should the Eagles take care of business, this line could push up closer to -7.

After all, Dallas plays the wounded defending Super Bowl champs on the road, with the market expecting them to lose.

How long can Cooper Rush keep doing his best early career Dak Prescott impression? Football Outsiders, which includes opponent adjustments in the DVOA formula, loves his work thus far (he ranks third), while other metrics are less impressed.

With this line sitting smack in the middle of a couple of key numbers, we could see a fairly big swing in value either way.

Monday Night Football Odds

Every passing week that Justin Herbert looks more like himself is another week where the market becomes more certain the Chargers are at least a second-tier contender. Certainly, he played well in Week 4, although the undercurrent of too many short passes remains a bit worrisome.

Certainly, a healthy Browns pass rush has the potential to cause some problems for Herbert and this injured offensive line. That angle may be reason enough to wait on a Chargers wager, to say nothing of the fact any pro-Chargers movement would start with some dead numbers.

The Broncos get another national TV showcase in Week 5. But the way this offense has played thus far, that could mean they just as easily leave a poor impression on the market.

MORE POTENTIAL WEEK 5 IMPACT ON WEEK 6 LOOK-AHEAD LINES

Bills At Chiefs

The most anticipated regular season game of the year? Both teams enter Week 5 as large favorites, albeit still a touchdown apart in favor of the Bills.

Given what we last saw of these teams, and the fact both squads have likely had this circled for months, any underperformance seems unlikely. Since it’s tough to definitively say one team is better than the other — although DVOA certainly points strongly to the Bills — this line seem very likely to stay within a point or two of zero. That is, you likely won’t get value either way betting the look-ahead number.

So, just make sure the side you’re leaning to gets through healthy before pulling the trigger.

Jaguars At Colts

Is there any universe in which the Colts wind up laying -3 here?

That’s the question anyone considering betting Jacksonville has to ponder. Because while one might look at Jaguars +2.5 with surprise, there’s a huge incentive to see if you can potentially get the most crucial number after Week 5. It seems hard to fathom considering the Jags wiped the floor with the Colts, 24-0, in Week 2. They also rank well ahead of the Colts by advanced statistical measures that often inform these markets.

The Colts also have some injury question marks that could sway this line. As of now, the availability of RB Jonathan Taylor and LB Shaquille Leonard is a complete unknown. If the team looks poor without them this week but they return next week, you may be able to pounce on an early number closer to pick’em when markets reopen.

HOW TO USE NFL LOOK-AHEAD LINES

The look-ahead lines allow you a sneak peek at the projected lines for the following week’s games. This information from a leading online sportsbook will help provide lessons in understanding lines and projections before the current week’s games are played.

Many bettors tend to overreact to the previous week’s scores and results. The NFL Week 6 look-ahead lines provide a sense of stability from the oddsmaker. They sometimes offer a clear, unbiased snapshot of perceived team strength.

Bettors can also gain an edge or find value in the lines once the weekend results take hold. See if you can find any over- or under-reactions by the market.

Of course, always take note of key injuries, travel and scheduling situations, and NFL power rankings. Making adjustments is part of the process, along with accounting for teams’ strengths, weaknesses, against-the-spread angles and personnel matchups.
