Commanders at Cowboys Odds: Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under

When using the odds table, click the dropdown menu and select the type of bet you wish to make.

Betting the point spread is when you wager on how many points a team will win or lose by. A plus sign in front of the spread denotes the underdog, and a minus sign denotes the favorite.

In this case, the Cowboys would have to win by more than 3 points if you bet them to cover the point spread (-3). A spread bet on the Commanders would win if they win the game or lose by 2 or fewer points. A 3 point Cowboys win is a push and spread bets on the game would be refunded.

Betting the moneyline is simply betting on which particular team will win a game.

The betting total is the number of combined points the two teams will score. Bettors can choose to bet the over or under on how many total points will be scored in the game.

Commanders at Cowboys Betting Insights

Why The Commanders Can Cover The Spread

Philadelphia shut down Washington last week 24-8. The Commanders offense generated just 240 yards at 3.2 yards per play. But that shouldn’t diminish QB Carson Wentz strong play the first two games with more than 310 passing yards each game and 7 TD passes. The Commanders have controlled the ball on offense more than their opponents in all three games. A similar script will be valuable this week to help their defense.

Why The Cowboys Can Cover The Spread

Cooper Rush is playing well for the Cowboys, posting above average EPA/play and Success Rate (SR) marks over the past two weeks. Meanwhile, the Washington defense has posted below average marks in dropback EPA and SR this season. Dallas should be able to move the ball on offense and rely on its ferocious pass rush. Micah Parson leads the NFL in pass rush win rate among all defenders.

Reasons To Bet The Over

Remember the Cowboys 56-14 wipeout of Washington late last season on this field? The Commanders have since upgraded at quarterback, and Carson Wentz is averaging 287 passing yards per game with 7 touchdowns. Combined with the Cowboys offensive balance and ability to gain chunks on the ground with Washington allowing 6.8 and 7.9 yards per rush to the Jaguars and Lions, this game could have a different game script than expected with the total dipping down.

Reasons To Bet The Under

After gaining just 240 yards at 3.2 yards per play at home last week vs. the Eagles, the Commanders don’t figure to gain momentum and move the ball on the Cowboys defense. The Dallas defense ranks top-10 in points, yards, yards per play, pass and is No. 1 in QB sack percentage.

Commanders at Cowboys Matchups to watch for

Cowboys’ pass rush vs Commanders offensive line

It’s a daunting challenge for the Washington offensive line this week. Last week vs the Eagles, the Commanders allowed 20 pressures, 9 sacks, 8 quarterback hurries and received the second-lowest Pass Blocking Efficiency grade (74.5) from Pro Football Focus. The Dallas defense was at its best on MNF against the Giants. The Cowboys defense had 25 pressures led by Micah Parsons. The Dallas D also had 12 quarterback hits and 5 sacks with 3 sacks from DeMarcus Lawrence.

Cowboys QB Cooper Rush vs Commanders Secondary

An undrafted free agent in 2017, Cooper Rush has performed well enough in two starts. He now has 514 passing yards without a turnover. The Commanders secondary is surrendering the fourth-highest quarterback rating (104.6), the third-highest yards per attempt (7.8) and the third-highest touchdown rate (7.2%) allowed, per Pro Football Focus.

  • Cooper Rush passing yards: O/U / ()

Commanders WR Terry McLaurin vs Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs

McLaurin should fare better with Wentz at quarterback. But the Commanders top receiver only had 3 receptions for 40 yards in two games against the Cowboys’ secondary last season. According to PFF, Diggs surrendered just 4 receptions in 79 pass coverage snaps in the teams two meetings late last season.

Final Thoughts

Many match-ups as noted appear favorable for the Cowboys to capitalize against the Commanders again. Dallas has one less day of prep and rest off a Monday Night Football win over the Giants. But I can’t see the Commanders having enough positive plays against this Dallas defense. The Cowboys held Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense to 254 total yards and 17 points in Week 2, and Tom Brady and the Buccaneers offense to 19 points in Week 1.
