In this article, we’ll break down all the key info needed before placing a wager on this game, including team match-ups, important metrics, and best available odds for what could be a pivotal game for two franchises trying to establish themselves in a very competitive NFC.

Seahawks vs. Lions Betting Odds

When using the odds table above, click the dropdown menu and select the bet you desire. Here are the complete NFL Week 4 odds.

Moneyline is the most straightforward option for players: pick the game’s winner. In close games like Sunday’s, sportsbooks usually install home teams as favorites, as they have with Detroit.

Spread bets are often the most popular wagers, betting on the margin of victory. As 5.5-point favorites, Detroit has to win by six or more to cover a spread bet. Seattle can lose by five or less, or win outright, to cash an underdog spread bet.

The over/under on the game is the amount of points scored. For a total of 50, if it ends 31-23, that would cash over bets with 54 total, while a 28-20 score would hit the under at 48.

Seahawks vs. Lions Player Props

The prop bet table allows players to search a specific stat option, like yards or sacks. Input a name of a player or team, search, and go through the listed prices.

This is a great way for bettors to consider all options and make the most-informed wager in what can be tricky markets to navigate.

Seahawks vs. Lions Betting Insights

Why the Seahawks can cover the spread

This is the first 1 p.m. ET kickoff this year for the Seahawks. Pete Carroll’s team does historically well in the early time slot, winning both games last year and going 13-1 SU since 2018. The Seahawks are third in the league with a 48.6 percent third-down conversion rate, which will help them keep drives going against a Detroit team that can control the clock.

Why the Lions can cover the spread

Detroit enters the game 3-0 ATS this year, despite losses to the Eagles and Vikings. They covered as favorites against the Commanders in their lone win this season. The balanced offense has averaged 409 yards per game, No. 3 in the league.

Reasons to bet the over

The over has hit for all 3 Lions games this year, with each game eclipsing 50 points. Detroit’s 95 points is the most in the NFC through Week 3, as are the 93 points they’ve allowed. Seattle has allowed more than 23 points per game so far as well. The Seahawks may be able to take advantage of a suspect Lions secondary and hit some big plays.

Reasons to bet the under

The under has hit in two of three Seattle’s games this year, while the only over that hit was the 43.5 last week against Atlanta. Pete Carroll knows Jared Goff very well from his years as the Rams QB and can draw up an effective scheme this week. The Seahawks have struggled in the red zone this year, hitting pay dirt just 25% of the time.

Seahawks vs. Lions Props: Key Matchups

Seahawks WRs Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf vs. Lions secondary: The dynamic duo of wideouts hasn’t seen great numbers under Geno Smith. Sunday may be a chance to improve numbers. The Lions gave up 60 yards or more to the top-two receivers against Philadelphia, Washington and Minnesota. A.J. Brown gashed the secondary for 155 in his Eagles’ debut. Could his college teammate produce a similar breakout game?

  • Tyler Lockett anytime TD:
  • DK Metcalf anytime TD:

Lions RBs vs. the Seahawks rush defense: Detroit runs the ball with two lead backs, but D’Andre Swift is likely out this week. Swift is eighth in the league with 231 yards on just 27 carries. Jamaal Williams has more carries (43) and touchdowns (4). The Lions have run more than 42 percent through three weeks and will likely lean on the run against Seattle, who are tied for 30th in rush defense, at 157 yards per game. Yardage and TD prices are worth a look.

Lions QB Jared Goff vs. Pete Carroll: This is the first time Pete Carroll will match wits with the 2016 first overall pick since he traded Rams’ blue for the lighter hue in Detroit. With LA, Goff went 5-4 against Seattle, completing more than 62% of his passes for an average of 267 yards per game, with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions in those games. Those Rams teams relied more on the pass than his current Lions team. Seattle has allowed about 240 yards per game so far in 2022.

Final Thoughts

Early money on DraftKings has poured into the Lions to cover (83% as of Wednesday); however, the line has moved from Lions -6.5 to -4. 80% of mid-week bets are on the total.

This game feels awfully important for Week 4. Both teams have struggled to establish their identity so far in the 2022 season. Pete Carroll’s tenure in Seattle may rest on Geno Smith’s stewardship of his potent offense, while Dan Campbell’s attempt to revive Detroit’s legacy in his hard-nosed image needs to produce as many wins as “Hard Knocks” memes, if not more.
