NFL Week 2 Schedule Edges Due To Rest

Thursday Night Football Teams

The Chiefs (vs. CIN) and Ravens (vs. LV) get three days of rest edges for Week 2.

Cincinnati is up against it despite it being early in the season. Not only do they come in 0-1 after an extremely disappointing Week 1 loss as big favorites, but they now may face the Chiefs at a rest disadvantage and with a short-handed receiving corps. Tee Higgins missed Week 1, and it didn’t sound like he was particularly close to playing.

Brazil Teams

The Eagles (vs. ATL) and Packers (vs. IND) have two days of rest edges for Week 2. However, the Eagles’ edge is somewhat mitigated as they play on Monday, allowing the Falcons to get an extra day of rest as well.

That extra rest may prove crucial for Green Bay. It sounds like there’s a small chance the injured Jordan Love can play, but regardless, it helps that the team gets some extra time to prepare its starter. Given their histories (or lack thereof), Malik Willis or Sean Clifford probably need all the help they can get.

Monday Night Football Teams

The Vikings (vs. SF) and Titans (vs. NYJ) have one day of rest edge for Week 2.

All eyes will be on Christian McCaffrey. After the superstar was announced as an 11th-hour inactive, affecting Monday Night Football odds, Jordan Mason starred in his stead. Now, McCaffrey has a short week to try to get on the field against Brian Flores’ defense in a revenge spot.

NFL Week 2 Schedule Edges Due to Travel

Brazil Teams

Philly (vs. ATL) and Green Bay (vs. IND) both travel back from Brazil. While there aren’t any time zone concerns here, it’s still a long journey home, albeit with a couple of extra days of rest to mitigate the situation.

West Coast Teams Going East

The Seahawks play in New England during the early window of Sunday games.

L.A. Rams play in Carolina during the early window of Sunday games.

Las Vegas plays in Baltimore during the early window of Sunday games. Since they are also at a rest disadvantage, the Ravens may enjoy compounding schedule factors.

East Coast Teams Going West

None this week. Pittsburgh playing in Denver is the closest one, though they are crossing two time zones and not three. Still, given that the game is already at altitude, the Steelers may be affected a little more than usual.
