Steelers vs. Ravens Betting Insights

Reasons The Steelers Can Cover The Spread

The Steelers Defense with TJ Watt has been one of the best units in the league, holding 5 straight teams to under 20 points, including this very Ravens team in Pittsburgh. Their victory over the Panthers looks better now than it did at the time, and they did beat a Raiders team that has decent wins on its schedule.

The problem is, as always, the offense, but the Steelers have a decent claim to the better Quarterback in this game. Since Huntley came in in relief of Lamar, he’s 27th in the league by EPA/Play, while Kenny Pickett is 15th.

Reasons The Ravens Can Cover The Spread

The Ravens D has similarly held up in recent weeks, keeping them in game, not allowing more than 14 points in any game since Lamar Jackson went down. With them being able to keep Tyler Huntley and co in games, Baltimore should be in this to the end, at a minimum. Given the game is in Baltimore, the crowd should allow Huntley to control the crowd and have his offense in sync, which Pickett won’t have.

Reasons to bet the over

Defensive scores and/or bad passes will be needed in this game for it to go over, given that neither team’s game last week broke 30 points. Given the total is a seemingly insanely low 35, luck could easily get the game over, but it’s unlikely.

Reasons to bet the under

Both these teams are run first offensively at this point and when they score it will be on long, tedious, time consuming drives. Last time these two teams played they totaled 30 points, still 5 under the extremely low total.

Steelers vs. Ravens Props: Matchups To Watch For

Justin Tucker Field Goals Made – With points being at an extreme premium, and the fact that the Ravens have the best kicker in the league, they’re likely going to kick everytime they can. Tucker’s reliability makes the math on 4th downs much less necessarily aggressive, and in what might be a battle to 13 points, Tucker will be a key part of this.

Final Thoughts

It’s hard to think of the Steelers as potentially the better team in this matchup, but they might well be. The Ravens have been horrible offensively since Huntley took over – scoring 10, 16, 3, and 17 points in their 4 games with him – and they haven’t two touchdowns in a game in the Huntley era.

The fact that Huntley is not just worse than Pickett but clearly worse than him by EPA/Play is a nightmare for the Ravens, especially when you realize that with TJ Watt back, the Steelers Defense might be as good, if not better, than Baltimore right now.

This game is going to be incredibly low scoring and points will be at a real premium, but there’s an idea that Baltimore are a tier above the Steelers, based on record and reputation. Right now, I don’t think that’s justified if Huntley is going to be 27th in the league in EPA/Play.

This game will be tight, and bettors who got the available +3s on Pittsburgh were smart. If it gets back to 3, Pittsburgh is much stronger of a lean, but given this last matchup came down to 2 points, the 2.5 might matter.

Best of luck betting SNF Steelers Ravens odds.
