NFL Week 16 betting lines
Getting a good number is paramount when betting on the NFL. Let’s take a deeper dive into these key betting games.
Bengals (-2) at Steelers (+2)
Cincinnati overcame a double-digit fourth-quarter deficit versus Minnesota, yet Pittsburgh was dealt a two-possession loss in Indianapolis. The Mike Tomlin “rah-rah” situational spot didn’t cash in, and the Steelers have plenty of work to do for a playoff spot.
The motivation spot sides with the Bengals. Not only are they looking to continue their push for an AFC wild-card spot, but they’re also eyeing revenge after falling to the Steelers in Week 12.
Moreover, Jake Browning has accrued the second-most adjusted EPA per play among qualified quarterbacks since Week 13. He’s only behind Brock Purdy in that department.
Lions (-3) at Vikings (+3)
Although Detroit has essentially clinched the NFC North title at this juncture, Dan Campbell’s team can seal the deal with an outright victory. Nevertheless, Minnesota will also be fighting for its postseason life. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell must get consistent QB play from Nick Mullens, as the Lions’ secondary remains their biggest liability.
Browns (+2) Texans (-2)
Here’s another game with massive playoff implications. Both teams are in the AFC wild-card hunt, with Houston currently on the outside looking in. Should Texans rookie QB C.J. Stroud return from a concussion, Cleveland’s defense — which has performed in pedestrian-like fashion on the road — could be in trouble.
On top of that, the Browns have manufactured their fair share of positive variance, going 5-0 in matchups decided by a field goal or less. Therefore, their market rating may be slightly inflated, thanks to close-game luck.
Cowboys (+1.5) at Dolphins (-1.5)
Although the betting market moved against Miami in Week 15, with Tyreek Hill (ankle) on the sidelines, Miami still blitzed the Jets by 30 points. Meanwhile, Dallas was routed by the Bills. Hill will reportedly be ready for this contest, but I’d expect Dak Prescott & Co. to bounce back against the banged-up Dolphins.
