Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco 49ers (-2.5)
The Rams rose to the occasion in a critical game against an elite opponent, surviving the visiting Bills by a 44-42 score Sunday. The offense continues to revolve around Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp and Kyren Williams, an elite trio when clicking on all cylinders.
The 49ers got a much-needed cakewalk of a win against the visiting and hapless Bears. San Francisco remained on the fringes of the NFC playoff picture with a 38-13 walloping of Chicago. However, San Fran endured yet another running back injury, as Isaac Guerendo exited with a foot sprain and could be hard-pressed to be available for this divisional clash.
The game has opened with a projected total of 48.5 points.
Cincinnati Bengals (-5) at Tennessee Titans
The Bengals took the field Monday night in Dallas ready to stave off official postseason elimination. Cincinnati is still an unfathomable 5-8 but after the win, but it had all of its key components healthy on offense against an equally disappointing Cowboys squad.
The Titans significantly underachieved in their own right in Week 14. Tennessee dropped a 10-6 decision to the lowly Jaguars at home. Will Levis continues to struggle with efficiency and accuracy, and both factors contributed to the loss that dropped the Titans to 3-10 and officially eliminated them from the postseason.
The game has opened with a projected total of 47.5 points.
Baltimore Ravens (-16) at New York Giants
The Ravens were off in Week 14 after disappointingly coming up short against the Eagles at home in Week 13. Lamar Jackson and Co. are now a full two games back of the Steelers in the AFC North but have a golden opportunity to get right in this game as the largest favorites of the week.
The Giants looked every bit worthy of their two-touchdown-plus home underdog status for this game with yet another lackluster performance Sunday against the Saints. New York came up short by a 14-11 score, although Graham Gano’s would-be game-tying field goal was blocked to seal the loss. Tommy DeVito could regain the starting job considering how generally ineffective Drew Lock has been.
The game has opened with a projected total of 43.5 points.
New York Jets (-3.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jets gave the Dolphins all they could handle on the road in Week 14 before falling by a 32-26 score in overtime. The absences of Sauce Gardner (hamstring) and Breece Hall (knee) certainly didn’t help, but Aaron Rodgers did post his first 300-yard game since his Packers game. New York is still fighting and, on paper, still outclasses the Jaguars by an appreciable amount.
Jacksonville still managed to escape Tennessee with a 10-6 victory despite Mac Jones throwing a pair of interceptions. Jones did throw for 220 yards on solid 23-for-31 passing, so he seems to be showing some improvement the more he plays.
The game has opened with a projected total of 40.5 points.
Washington Commanders (-7.5) at New Orleans Saints
The Commanders were on bye in Week 14 after snapping a three-game losing streak with a convincing 42-19 throttling of the Titans in Week 13. Jayden Daniels has finally had a chance to take a breath during his stellar rookie season, and Brian Robinson Jr. is also likely now fully recovered from the ankle injury he suffered in Week 12.
The Saints continued to thrive under the leadership of interim coach Darren Rizzi in a 14-11 win over the Giants. However, the fracture Derek Carr suffered to his non-throwing hand is naturally a concern, although Rizzi said Monday the injury may not require surgery, and Carr could even potentially start this game.
The game has opened with a projected total of 43 points.
Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans (-2.5)
The Dolphins persevered after falling behind to the Jets at home and ultimately clawed their way to a 32-26 overtime victory. Miami is now 6-7 and saw Tyreek Hill post his first 100-yard effort since Week 1 against the Sauce Gardner-less Jets secondary, while Tua Tagovailoa also continued flashing strong chemistry with both Jaylen Waddle and Jonnu Smith.
The Texans went into the Week 14 bye on a positive note thanks to a hard-fought 23-20 win over the Jaguars in Week 13. Houston is now 8-5 and leads the Colts by two games in the lackluster AFC South. Yet, this game is an important proving ground for DeMeco Ryans’ squad, considering their inconsistency this season.
The game has opened with a projected total of 47 points.
Kansas City Chiefs (-4) at Cleveland Browns
The Chiefs were at it again Sunday night, failing once again to grant Patrick Mahomes’ wish for more convincing wins. K.C. went down to the wire again before getting past the Chargers by a 19-17 score with a game-winning FG from Matthew Wright that hit the upright before going in to move to 12-1 and remain the top seed in the AFC.
The Browns got a taste of Steelers revenge in Week 14. Jameis Winston and Co. had to go into Pittsburgh on a short week and face a team looking to avenge a Week 12 loss. Cleveland fell to 3-10 and was officially eliminated from playoff contention.
The game has opened with a projected total of 45 points.
Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers (-2.5)
The Cowboys headed into a Week 14 Monday night visit from the Bengals having won two straight to get to 5-7 before a loss dropped them to 5-8. Dallas is still a long shot to snag an NFC wild card spot but has seen Cooper Rush develop into an effective stopgap capable of some production spikes when necessary.
The Panthers have been very competitive in their own right recently and have a considerably improved Bryce Young to thank for that. The second-year signal-caller handled himself admirably in a hostile environment against an elite team in the Eagles. Carolina suffered a narrow 22-16 defeat but likely would have sustained a much more devastating one earlier in the season.
The game has opened with a projected total of 43 points.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles (-5)
The Steelers climbed to 10-3 with an efficient performance against the Browns. Pittsburgh recorded a 27-14 victory without George Pickens, who missed his first career game with a hamstring injury. Pickens’ availability will be key to Pittsburgh’s chances in this much tougher matchup.
The Eagles got all they could handle from the Panthers but managed to record a 22-16 victory in Week 14 to move to 11-2. Philadelphia continues to chase the Lions for the NFC’s top seed and gets a stiff test in this spot against an elite Pittsburgh defense.
The game has opened with a projected total of 44.5 points.
New England Patriots at Arizona Cardinals (-6.5)
The Patriots were off in Week 14 after suffering their second single-digit loss in the last three games in Week 13. New England is definitely showing flashes under rookie QB Drake Maye, who could come out in this potentially advantageous spot showing some improvement after having had a bye week to take a breath.
The Cardinals are in a swoon that has already cost them the top of the NFC West. Arizona lost its third straight – including its second to the Seahawks in that span – with a 30-18 defeat at the hands of Seattle on Sunday. Kyler Murray continues to have some trouble maximizing the pass-catching talent at his disposal and has a challenging matchup versus New England’s talented secondary.
The game has opened with a projected total of 46 points.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Los Angeles Chargers (-3)
The Buccaneers saw Baker Mayfield rack up another impressive yardage total in Sunday’s 28-13 win over the Raiders. On the rookie front, there was both encouraging and worrisome news — first-year wideout Jalen McMillan scored a pair of touchdowns, but Bucky Irving went down early with a back injury and never returned.
In trademark fashion, the Chargers shook off another key absence to play competitively and nearly knocked off the defending champion Chiefs at Arrowhead on Sunday night. Los Angeles narrowly lost by a 19-17 margin but had to play without Ladd McConkey (shoulder/knee) in addition to J.K. Dobbins (knee).
The game has opened with a projected total of 46.5 points.
Buffalo Bills at Detroit Lions (-2.5)
The Bills got a record six total touchdowns (three passing, three rushing) from Josh Allen, but it still wasn’t enough in a wild 44-42 loss to the Rams. Buffalo’s defense was atypically poor and now has another monumental challenge in the Lions’ elite offensive machine. Buffalo could get both Keon Coleman (wrist) and Dalton Kincaid (knee) back as key offensive reinforcements.
The Lions are now 11-1 after a 34-31 win over the Packers on Thursday night to start Week 14. Jared Goff continued to play at an MVP level and now has a 9-1 TD-INT in his last four games. Nevertheless, he’ll have a formidable challenge in a Bills defense that will be out for some atonement after Sunday’s meltdown against the Rams.
The game has opened with a projected total of 53.5 points, by far the largest of the slate.
Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos (-4)
The Colts went into the Week 14 bye at 6-7 after a thrilling 25-24 win over the Patriots in Week 13. Anthony Richardson still has miles to go as a passer but continues to make plays with his legs. Indy is in the AFC wild-card conversation but can’t realistically afford any more losses and has a monumental challenge in this road matchup.
Denver was also on bye in Week 14 after a rollercoaster of a 41-32 win over the Browns on Monday night in Week 13. The vaunted Broncos defense was more vulnerable than usual while allowing Jameis Winston to throw for 497 yards, but they also nabbed three interceptions, including two pick-sixes.
The game has opened with a projected total of 43.5 points.
Green Bay Packers (-2.5) at Seattle Seahawks
The Packers hung in valiantly on the road against the Lions to open Week 14 before falling by a 34-31 score. Josh Jacobs authored his second three-touchdown tally in the last three games. This shapes up as another tough road assignment for 9-4 Green Bay, although the Pack will have a rest advantage.
The Seahawks continued to surge despite not having Kenneth Walker III (ankle/calf) in Week 14. Seattle recorded a 30-18 win over the Cardinals to move to 8-5 and maintain control of the top of the NFC West. Zach Charbonnet’s 193 total yards and two total touchdowns helped lead the way and set Mike Macdonald’s team up well for this matchup, regardless of Walker’s status.
The game has opened with a projected total of 47 points.
Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings (-7)
The Bears’ nightmare of a season continued with a 38-13 thumping at the hands of the 49ers on Sunday. That snapped a three-game streak of close losses for Chicago and left Thomas Brown’s squad at 4-9, although still not officially eliminated from postseason contention.
The Vikings ran away from the Falcons with a 42-21 home victory. Minnesota added another two interceptions to old friend Kirk Cousins’ tally and saw both Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson turn in elite performances thanks to Sam Darnold’s career-best 347-yard, five-touchdown performance.
The game has opened with a projected total of 43.5 points.
Atlanta Falcons (-5.5) at Las Vegas Raiders
The Falcons’ 42-21 loss to the Vikings in Week 14 resulted in Atlanta falling out of a share of first in the NFC South. Raheem Morris’ squad has a chance to make up ground here and, according to the head coach, will continue to be helmed by Cousins despite his recent struggles.
The Raiders’ difficult season continued with an injury to Aidan O’Connell in a 28-13 loss to the Buccaneers. O’Connell suffered a bone bruise in his knee, which is actually a brighter prognosis than what might have been expected when he was placed in an air cast and carted off in the second half. Desmond Ridder would draw the spot start against his old team if O’Connell can’t suit up in this inter-conference battle.
The game has opened with a projected total of 44 points.
