Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions (-3.5)
The Packers kept rolling by dispatching the Dolphins on Thanksgiving night, 30-17. Green Bay is now 9-3, but any hope of capturing the NFC North crown essentially comes down to this game. The Pack already lost their first meeting to the Lions and are two games back of Detroit.
The Lions managed a 10th straight win by toppling the Bears by a score of 23-20 on Thanksgiving. Jared Goff and Co. continued to look machine-like for the most part on offense, although they did slow down in the second half. Nevertheless, Detroit has proven capable of winning in virtually any style.
The game has opened with a projected total of 51.5 points.
Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings (-6)
The Falcons are one of the shakier division leaders in some time. Atlanta still holds a share of first place in the NFC South after Sunday’s 17-13 loss to the Chargers but needs to get Kirk Cousins right after he threw four interceptions. This matchup against a similarly talented and aggressive Vikings defense doesn’t exactly hold much promise for that.
The Vikings escaped with a 23-22 win over the Cardinals that saw Sam Darnold play increasingly better as the game went on. Justin Jefferson (7-99) also had his best game since Week 9 and went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season. Atlanta’s defense has been vulnerable through the air at times, setting the Vikes’ air attack up well.
The game has opened with a projected total of 46.5 points.
New Orleans Saints (-4.5) at New York Giants
The Saints suffered their first loss under interim head coach Darren Rizzi in Week 13. They dropped a 21-14 decision to the Rams at home that also featured a season-ending ACL tear for Taysom Hill. Hill’s absence robs New Orleans of yet another key playmaker, which may leave them ill-equipped to take advantage of even this appealing matchup.
The Giants may get Tommy DeVito back from a one-game absence due to a forearm injury in this contest. Drew Lock wasn’t very remarkable in the Thanksgiving loss to Dallas save for his work on the ground (57 rushing yards, one TD). Malik Nabers (8-69 on 13 targets) did see more work after expressing his displeasure coming out of a Week 12 loss to the Bucs.
The game has opened with a projected total of 40.5 points.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans (-3.5)
The Jaguars lost Trevor Lawrence for what may be the rest of the season Sunday on a late hit by the Texans’ Azeez Al-Shaiir in a 23-20 loss. Mac Jones came in and played much better than in either of the two starts that immediately preceded this game, throwing for 235 yards and two touchdowns.
The Titans fell behind 28-0 in a 42-19 loss to the Commanders. Will Levis did keep his long-distance connection with Nick Westbrook-Ikhine going via a pair of TDs. This matchup shapes up as potentially more palatable, and Tennessee should have a much better chance of keeping control of the game environment and getting back to a balanced offense as a result.
The game has opened with a projected total of 40 points.
Las Vegas Raiders at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6.5)
The Raiders saw Aidan O’Connell throw for a career-high 340 yards and two touchdowns, Brock Bowers (10-140-1) and Jakobi Meyers (6-97) excelled as a result, and Tre Tucker rattled off a 58-yard touchdown catch in Week 13. It still resulted in a 19-17 loss to the Chiefs, thanks to an errant shotgun snap. However, the potential of Vegas’ passing game could be maximized again versus this vulnerable Bucs secondary.
On that subject, Tampa Bay allowed a season-high 298 passing yards and a pair of TDs to Bryce Young in a Week 13 overtime win. The Bucs needed a Chuba Hubbard fumble in the extra period to escape Carolina with a win and may not be so fortunate for a second consecutive week if O’Connell carries over his momentum.
The game has opened with a projected total of 45 points.
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5)
The Browns face a tough Monday night assignment on the road against the Broncos to close out Week 13.
The Steelers recorded a memorable 41-34 win over the Bengals in Week 13. Russell Wilson threw for a spectacular 414 yards and three touchdowns and has completed over 75% of his passes over the last two games.
The game has opened with a projected total of 41.5 points.
Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia Eagles (-12.5)
The Panthers are still losing plenty of games but are getting much closer to coming out on the right side of some of those decisions. Carolina suffered a second straight three-point loss Sunday in OT against the Bucs yet saw Bryce Young take another step by throwing for a season-high 298 yards.
The Eagles recorded a high-quality 24-19 win on the road over the Ravens despite DeVonta Smith (hamstring) sitting out again. Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley accounted for all three Eagles TDs to keep Philly a game back in the standings of the Lions for the No. 1 seed.
The game has opened with a projected total of 45.5 points.
New York Jets at Miami Dolphins (-5.5)
The Jets were shut out in the second half of a 26-21 loss to the Seahawks in Week 13. Aaron Rodgers totaled under 200 passing yards for the third straight game and appears unable to muster the level of performance he routinely did in his Green Bay heyday.
Tua Tagovailoa’s season-high 365 passing yards were a nice figure but somewhat meaningless in the Dolphins’ 30-17 loss to the Packers on Thanksgiving night. Miami is now 5-7 but back in the balmy South Florida temperatures for a game that shapes up as much more winnable for Mike McDaniel’s crew.
The game has opened with a projected total of 45 points.
Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals (-2.5)
The Seahawks head into their second game against the Cardinals in a three-week period having gained sole possession of first place in the NFC West. Seattle got past the Jets by a 26-21 score in Week 13 and applied heavy pressure throughout the game against Kyler Murray in a Week 12 win over the Cardinals.
Arizona dropped a second straight game Sunday to fall to 6-6 and out of first place. The Cards came up short in Minnesota by a 23-22 score despite Murray putting on a much better performance and Jonathan Gannon holding true to his pledge to pepper Marvin Harrison Jr. with more targets.
The game has opened with a projected total of 46.5 points.
Buffalo Bills (-3.5) at Los Angeles Rams
The Bills used a Buffalo blizzard to their advantage in a 35-10 win over the Niners on Sunday night to move to 10-2. Buffalo remains within striking distance of the Chiefs for the No. 1 seed and could get Keon Coleman (wrist) back for this game.
The Rams are making moves over in the NFC. Los Angeles climbed to 6-6 with its 21-14 win over the Saints and is just one game back of the Seahawks for first place in the NFC West heading into this interconference clash. They’re somewhat surprisingly only modest underdogs.
The game has opened with a projected total of 49 points.
Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers (-3.5)
The Bears decided it was time to cut bait on Matt Eberflus before the season ended and will now move forward with offensive coordinator Thomas Brown as interim coach following the disastrous late-game sequence in a 23-20 loss to the Lions on Thanksgiving. Brown has succeeded in getting more out of Caleb Williams in the offense than Shane Waldron did, but it remains to be seen how he handles the entire team.
The 49ers fell to 5-7 with a snowy road loss to the Bills on Sunday night. Of equal importance is the fact Christian McCaffrey suffered a PCL injury that will cause him to miss the rest of the regular season. San Fran can’t afford to lose any more ground in the standings to make a longshot potential playoff return for the star back possible.
The game has opened with a projected total of 44.5 points.
Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5)
A likely fatigued Chargers team leaned heavily on its defense during a 17-13 win over the Falcons on a short week. L.A.’s four interceptions of Kirk Cousins were impressive, but the challenge gets tougher against Patrick Mahomes and Co. Rookie wideout Ladd McConkey also suffered a late knee injury that puts his availability for this game in question.
The defending champs continued to cut it close on Black Friday but still escaped with another win. Kansas City was fortunate to get past the Raiders by a score of 19-17 while giving up a career-high 340 yards to Aidan O’Connell. K.C. may not get so lucky facing a Jim Harbaugh-coached team, although the fact J.K. Dobbins (knee) remains out will help the Chiefs’ cause.
The game has opened with a projected total of 43.5 points.
Cincinnati Bengals (-5.5) at Dallas Cowboys
The Bengals’ defense collapsed again in a 44-38 loss to the Steelers in Week 13. Cincy is 4-8 and teetering on playoff elimination. The offense continues to churn out the numbers that might be expected given the personnel, but even a Cooper Rush-led Cowboys offense could pose trouble for the other side of the ball.
Rush and Rico Dowdle were key components of Dallas’ second straight win, a 27-20 victory over the Giants on Thanksgiving. CeeDee Lamb did suffer a shoulder injury that Jerry Jones doesn’t seem to think will hold the star wideout out of this juicy matchup, but that nevertheless bears monitoring.
The game has opened with a projected total of 49.5 points.
