NFL Week 14 betting lines

Since bettors have recency bias, look-ahead lines offer a clearer snapshot of teams, according to the oddsmakers. Take note of injuries, situational spots, and your power ratings. Adjustments are part of the process for any betting market. The same goes for assessing teams’ strengths and weaknesses, ATS angles, and personnel matchups.

Let’s break down NFL Week 14 odds, juxtaposed to look-ahead lines, without further ado.

Lions (-4) at Bears (+4)

Detroit rebounded versus the Saints after falling to the Packers on Thanksgiving. However, the Lions’ defense allowed 8.03 yards per pass attempt (YPA), as the secondary remains a major concern.

Chicago’s offense remains inconsistent, even with Justin Fields back under center after dealing with a thumb injury. Yet, Fields generated the 11th-highest EPA + CPOE (completion percentage over expected) composite ranking against the Lions in Week 11. Chicago covered in their first meeting, and expect it to keep this one competitive.

For context, the Lions were 4.5-point favorites on the look-ahead line.

Buccaneers (+2.5) at Falcons (-2.5)

This spread is also up a hair after the look-ahead line favored Atlanta by two points. In Week 7, the Falcons emerged victorious in Week 7 despite three fumbles from Desmond Ridder inside the Bucs’ 10-yard line. That said, Tampa Bay’s top-five run defense could keep this one competitive against Atlanta’s ground-heavy offense.

Broncos (+3) at Chargers (-3)

Despite Los Angeles’ struggles in New England on Sunday, this spread hasn’t pivoted an inch from the look-ahead line. Denver’s defense, which has relied heavily on takeaways of late, could continue to regress Justin Herbert & Co. The Broncos rank No. 29 in EPA per dropback allowed.

Eagles (+3) at Cowboys (-3)

Not only will this spread surprise many, but it’s also up to the key number of a field goal after Philadelphia’s blowout loss to the Niners in Week 13. Nevertheless, the line movement is justified with the Cowboys power-rated ahead of the Eagles for many oddsmakers. Combine that with home-field advantage and Dallas looking for revenge. Look for Dallas to win this one by at least a score.
