Week 14 NFL Primetime Games

Thursday Night Football Odds

The line here between the Steelers and Vikings doesn’t seem likely to move too much. The Vikings will have pretty limited ability to impress facing the Lions, while the Steelers have a tough matchup against the Ravens. If the Steelers get stomped, perhaps this could inch up closer to Vikings -7, but it’s hard to see it going either way to the key number since the market won’t trust the Vikings to run away from the Steelers but neither will it trust the Steelers to play a fringe contender close on the road. Even with a strong Steelers performance, expect Vikings -3.5 at the lowest.

Sunday Night Football Odds

Aaron Rodgers’ well-chronicled ownership of the Bears figures to continue here with the Bears massive underdogs on the road in Green Bay. The Packers are off this week and the Bears have a tough assignment with the Cardinals coming to town, assuming Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins return healthy and well-rested. A Bears upset win might nudge this down to Packers -10 but probably not much further. Watch for the play of Andy Dalton, assuming he draws another start over Justin Fields. He pushed the passing offense to a slightly higher level against Detroit.

Monday Night Football Odds

Again, the biggest swing to this line should come from Murray and Hopkins returning healthy and looking good. Should they do so, this might be the last chance to grab the Cardinals south of a field goal. Both teams are huge favorites and very likely to win in Week 13, so health will be the critical factor moving forward on both sides. For the Rams, Matt Stafford must start playing like his old self and not the hobbled wreck he’s looked like in recent weeks.

Week 14 Teams on a Bye

  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Miami Dolphins
  • New England Patriots
  • Philadelphia Eagles

Saints At Jets

With the Saints opening south of a touchdown, there may be a buying opportunity here before the Jets face off with another run-heavy team in the Eagles. Top offensive lines like those of the Patriots and Colts have mauled this Jets run defense in massive blowouts. The Saints are similarly strong up front but have a major question mark at QB with Taysom Hill set to potentially draw his first start of the season. If he powers a big day on the ground and the offense looks good against Dallas, all it’s going to take to move this to Saints -7 or higher is the Jets playing like the Jets.

Giants At Chargers

The Giants‘ results have frankly outpaced their level of play for more than a month now. Both the Raiders and Eagles soundly outgained them in games the G-Men ultimately won. If the bottom drops out this week — a slightly more distinct possibility with a probable Mike Glennon start looming — and the Dolphins strangle their offense in a hail of blitzes, this line probably nudges up past Chargers -7 after they play an expected close one against the Bengals.

Many bettors tend to overreact to the previous week’s scores and results. The NFL Week 14 look-ahead lines provide a sense of stability from the oddsmaker. They sometimes offer a clear, unbiased snapshot of perceived team strength

Bettors can also gain an edge or find value in the lines once the weekend results take hold. See if you can find any over- or under-reactions by the market.

Of course, always take note of key injuries, travel and scheduling situations, and NFL power rankings. Making adjustments is part of the process, along with accounting for teams’ strengths, weaknesses, against-the-spread angles and personnel matchups.
