Best NFL Week 1 Teasers

Rams (-7.5) vs. Bears

The Rams figure to be one of the most popular teaser candidates of the week as the betting public loves a “sure thing” home favorite against an expected bottom-feeder. This one comes at home, too, with the Bears traveling across the country.

With the Rams the biggest moneyline favorite early in the week at — since surpassed by Tampa Bay — people will look for a way to bet them without laying the ugly numbers north of a TD.

LA has some big edges in numerous spots, most notably matching up against the weak Chicago OL.

As of Wednesday, the Rams still sit in the range you want to play a favorite on a teaser. Furthermore, the low-ish over/under of increases the attractiveness of the Rams as an NFL Week 1 teaser play.

49ers (-7.5) at Lions

Another favorite that will tempt many bettors is the San Francisco 49ers. Sitting as -7.5 favorites across most of the market, you can’t really blame anyone for being interested since the lowly Detroit Lions oppose them.

This one checks most of the boxes and comes in with an even lower total of 44.5 at DraftKings Sportsbook. The 49ers look set to compete for a Super Bowl berth once again after sustaining an incredibly destructive run of injuries in 2020.

The only thing that makes them a bit less rosy than the Rams is the fact they’re on the road, where underperformance becomes a little more likely.

Which team can ruin the 49ers/Rams teaser? Many around the country will likely wonder that as they click in these two popular favorites. If the zany Dan Campbell can will his Lions to victory, he’ll crush plenty of teasers and parlays.

Other Potential NFL Week 1 Teasers

Buccaneers (-8) vs. Cowboys

The opening night game on Thursday sees the Super Bowl champion Bucs host the always popular Cowboys.

On the surface, this appears another good candidate for a teaser. After all, even with some market moves pushing Tampa up to -8 or even -8.5 (DK Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook) they still sit in the preferred teaser zone.

The sticking point here comes from the high expected volume of points. The high total of makes the game less attractive to tease.

Colts (+2.5) vs. Seahawks

The Colts have received some pretty good news in the past few weeks after a bit of an ugly preseason. Both QB Carson Wentz and OG Quenton Nelson sustained foot injuries that required surgery, with Wentz subsequently going on the COVID-19 list.

However, they may potentially bounce all the way back from these setbacks. Wentz played as a full participant in practice Wednesday, while Nelson remains a question mark for Sunday.

Some +3 still floats around as of Wednesday, but if you don’t have access to that number or it just comes off the market, a teaser at +2.5 might be worth a look.

Giants (+2.5) vs. Broncos

This battle of two strong defenses would present an ideal candidate for teaser should you be stuck with sportsbooks offering Giants +2.5. The over/under was the lowest of any Week 1 game as of Wednesday.

A low-scoring game with a home underdog here sets up nicely. Remember, the fewer points score, the more valuable the points you buy become.

If the Giants can’t hold off the Broncos pass rush, QB Daniel Jones’ fumbling ways could sink them. But if they can, this figures to be competitive.

However, enough Broncos action has come in to move them to -3 most places. You’re better off getting the Giants +3 if you like that side. But, should that number disappear by the time you’re betting, a Giants teaser could make sense.
