Bears Anytime Touchdown Scorer Strategy
The Bears are home favorites, and the game carries a -point over/under. Implied team totals make the expected final score: Bears 22, Panthers 18. That means we should expect three touchdowns from the Bears.
Carolina’s defense should be quite welcoming in this spot. Normally, they’ve been OK against the pass (17th in EPA/play allowed), but ace pass rusher Brian Burns will miss the game with a concussion. The less said about this rush defense (dead last in EPA/play and Success Rate allowed), the better.
Bears ATTD Scorer Bets
Will Bears TE Cole Kmet score a touchdown? ()
Kmet leads the Bears in red-zone targets, red-zone catches, and receiving touchdowns (tied with DJ Moore). So, if the Bears pass for a touchdown, he figures to be the most likely candidate to snag it. It hasn’t mattered a whole lot which QB is under center, either, as both Justin Fields and Tyson Bagent have looked Kmet’s way near the end zone.
The only potential fly in the ointment here is that the Panthers have done pretty good work against opposing tight ends. Only six teams have given up fewer fantasy points per game to TEs.
The key will be getting Kmet matched up with these Panthers linebackers rather than their safeties. Frankie Luvu has been a standout in other areas, but PFF’s numbers aren’t a fan of his coverage skills. And Deion Jones’ best days are several years and several injuries behind him.
Will Bears RB D’Onta Foreman score a touchdown? ()
The most fascinating part of this handicap is what to do with the Bears RBs. We want to buy in on some kind of rushing score, given how pathetic Carolina’s run defense is. But, it’s basically anyone’s guess how touches are going to shake out with preseason starter Khalil Herbert returning from IR.
Essentially, has D’Onta Foreman done enough to stake a claim to a decent chunk of the reps?
My best guess is he has, based on the fact he’s operated as the team’s clear lead back and been reasonably efficient. The team’s running game has been good, with Foreman rushing 60 times for 271 yards since taking over (4.5 YPA). He has the power that teams desire at the goal line, and perhaps the Bears will work Herbert in slowly.
With Herbert having shorter odds to score, I’d try the slight discount on Foreman if choosing between the two.
Best of luck with your TNF anytime touchdown bets.
