Much to the chagrin of fantasy players everywhere, the Falcons did not exactly heavily feature top draft pick Bijan Robinson. He split work with Tyler Allgeier, and Arthur Smith was summarily shown the door following a disappointing campaign.

Well, the new coaching staff is not looking to make the same mistakes as the prior regime. Robinson handled a staggering two-thirds of the skill player touches in Week 1. With Kirk Cousins apparently limited by his heel injury, bettors should expect another heavy dose of Robinson against the Eagles. He’ll take plenty of handoffs and likely serve as a frequent target in the passing game.

And it wouldn’t really be a surprise to see those touches prove fruitful. The Eagles struggled in the tackling department in Week 1, allowing long gains to Jayden Reed and Josh Jacobs as a result. Chunk plays kept the Packers in it, and chunk plays are something Robinson is quite good at producing.

Can Falcons Keep Up?

It wasn’t a great debut for Cousins and his new staff. They didn’t really build a sustainable offense. Cousins couldn’t operate under center due to his foot, which resulted in a lack of play-action, plays with which Cousins has thrived in recent years as a Viking.

That limited offense produced just 10 points against the Steelers.

Sure, the Eagles don’t have the same sort of pass rush that T.J. Watt brings to the table. But they do still have some juice up front, enough to make a quarterback with limited athleticism and an injury on top quite uncomfortable.

And the Philly offense looked mostly good against Green Bay. Their Success Rate ranked eighth on the week, and they should have a pretty big advantage up front against a Falcons defense that allowed 137 rushing yards to the Steelers and is more of a finesse group. They don’t have a ton of muscle.

Robinson may be in good shape to get his, but I’m skeptical about the Falcons’ chances here if Cousins is just a shell of himself who isn’t healed from a torn Achilles injury.

This Eagles offense is going to run away from some people this year. They already had a high-efficiency aerial attack thanks to their elite playmakers. Add in Saquon Barkley — one of the most impressive RBs in Week 1 — and they might be able to put up some points still while salting games away.

And I don’t trust the Falcons to play from behind if Cousins can’t throw downfield. Even if Robinson has a big day, the Eagles could win by a higher margin than the spread indicates.
