While this point spread shifted in Pittsburgh’s direction after Baltimore opened as a -6.5 home favorite, indicating early sharp money on the underdog Steelers, I still fancy a bet (or one of my NFL SGP picks in this case) on Lamar Jackson and Co.
The Ravens stumbled in their first meeting, but the final score did not tell the whole story. For reference, Baltimore outgained Pittsburgh by two yards per play (YPP). Mike Tomlin’s unit also won the turnover battle (3-1), while Ravens placekicker Justin Tucker missed a pair of first-half field goal attempts.
Needless to say, John Harbaugh’s unit will be highly motivated to earn revenge versus its divisional rival, especially with the AFC North title still up for grabs. It helps that the Steelers’ offense will be hampered for a second straight week, missing stud wideout George Pickens (hamstring). His absence contributes to my expectation that these teams will go under the total.
Additionally, familiarity on both sides of the ball should help enforce a lower-scoring affair, which was the case the first time.
As for Henry’s ATD odds, given that the 6-foot-2, 247-pound bruiser has failed to reach the end zone over the last three games, there’s some value to be had. Most bettors won’t be interested in fading that trend, but it creates a better price.
