There were only a few upsets in Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season and favorites won 13 of the 14 games on Sunday. Scoring was up significantly with 853 points averaging 53.3 points per game. That provided Over/Under bettors who like scoring 11 winners out of the 16 Week 2 games, and many fantasy league and prop players more winners when betting on their favorite players to score more.
As bettors prepare for Week 3 and evaluate the stats, TheLines shows you how to use the new player props search tool and how to effectively apply it to prop betting for the Week 3 games. Finding player props and comparing odds is much easier with the player props search tool as the days of searching out player props and toggling between multiple windows is over.
So what is a player prop bet? In short, it’s a bet placed on individual player performance over a given period of time (be it a quarter, game, or season). Instead of betting on team-based props like odds to win the Super Bowl, specific division or season win totals, you wager on specific players performance. For example, Raiders running back Josh Jacobs can have prop bets like odds to win AFC Offensive Player of the Year, how may touchdowns he’ll score during the 2020-21 season or how many rushing yards he will get against the Patriots in Week 3.
As you search and evaluate different player props, we’ve got you covered with the player props search tool.
What is the player props search tool?
The player props search tool was designed to simplify the search and provide real-time player props from leading sportsbooks like DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet, Sugar House, BetMGM and Fox Bet. The search tool also shows you dozens of prop bets for the individual player.
The ease and ability to compare lines and bet on the best numbers is an added benefit, especially when the lines and odds change in real time.
For example, in Week 2 Monday Night Football, Saints running back Alvin Kamara had a over/under receiving yards prop of 37.5 yards at DraftKings. TheLines video evaluated many of the player props Monday morning and even suggested playing ‘over’ 37.5 receiving yards on Kamara. Within an hour the prop line had moved up to 41.5 receiving yards at BetMGM and 42.5 at DraftKings. Kamara finished with 9 receptions for 95 yards to easily surpass all receiving yards props.
In comparing the Week 3 betting lines, moneyline odds and over/under numbers, you’ll notice three of the most anticipated games have posted totals above 52 points. Dallas at Seattle kicks off the later afternoon slate followed by Sunday Night Football with Green Bay at New Orleans. Monday Night Football is the Game of the Year thus far with Kansas City at Baltimore – the two highest rated teams in the Week 3 power rankings.
Those six quarterbacks will have many props to choose from, and you can expect to see some variance in passing yardage. For example, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott enters off a 450-yard passing performance, 47 pass attempts and 3 rushing touchdowns. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson had five touchdown passes in a 35-30 win last week, but Seattle’s defense allowed Patriots QB Cam Newton to complete 30-of-47 passes for 397 yards. Expect some variance in the passing props and yardage numbers this week for those quarterbacks.
How to use the player props tool
The search tool (above) is incredibly easy to use. Simply type in a players name (ex. Russell Wilson) for which you would like to compare odds.
You will see a list of different props, odds and various sportsbooks to compare. As mentioned, the player props tool and odds are live and change based on betting activity, player news and information.
