Next up for NFL Week 16 odds is a Saturday doubleheader. The nightcap features the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Chargers in a matchup that looked more exciting in training camp than now. The Bills are one of the biggest favorites of the week. Note that this game is exclusively on NBC’s streaming service Peacock but will feature the NFL’s first commercial-free fourth quarter. NFL player prop bets are a fun way to get interest in this matchup, considering it’s not expected to be competitive with the Bills a spread favorite.

Saturday NFL Player Props: Bills At Chargers

Saturday NFL Player Prop Bets: Bills At Chargers Strategy

With no Keenan Allen and Easton Stick at QB for the Chargers, there are structural reasons to be concerned about the Chargers’ ability to keep this game close. The Bills just covered this number against a Cowboys team that people have been trying to argue is a real contender. Against a Chargers team that just gave up 63 points to the Raiders, it gets harder to make a case for the Chargers.

That said, it’s the NFL, and the Dolphins lost as bigger favorites in primetime not two weeks ago. Getting too confident about the size of the Bills’ victory is unwise. They are massive favorites, which should inform the props we select when betting on Bills vs. Chargers props.

Easton Stick Over Passing Attempts

Stick will have to pass a lot in this game, in all likelihood. The Bills managed to limit Tony Pollard to only 11 carries last week, and they should be able to similarly make the Chargers one-dimensional on offense.

Stick only attempted 32 passes against the Raiders, but that game was so shambolic, and the Raiders had such a lead that the Chargers didn’t even run an offense for much of the second half. Stick should hit this over if they can stay competitive, or at least adjacent to competitive.

Easton Stick To Throw An Interception:

That said, there’s no guarantee that the Chargers will be efficient with those passes. Stick got lucky only to throw one interception last week, and in a pass-heavy game script, this correlates well with the attempts prop.

In college, Stick threw for 24 interceptions in his last 44 games, averaging an INT about every other game. This is a logical bet that correlates well with the increased usage and against better defenses than he faced in the FCS.

James Cook: Over Rushing Yards

Cook was a destroyer of worlds against the Cowboys, averaging 7.2 yards per carry en route to 179 yards total. Against the Chargers’ 23rd-ranked EPA Rush defense, Cook should be able to roll through them for a big game. Since Ken Dorsey was fired, Cook’s been an increasingly integral part of the Bills offense.

Cook also gets to take advantage of Josh Allen as his QB. Even though he ran all over the Cowboys last week, Dallas couldn’t commit extra bodies to stop him. Had they, Allen would have diced them up through the air. The threat of Allen’s arm helps Cook be as efficient as possible. In this matchup, as big of favorites as they are, Cook should be able to live up to his last name.

Josh Allen Anytime Touchdown ()

Allen loves running the ball in the red zone and has cemented his status as the Bills’ goal-line back. He’s up to 11 TDs on the ground and TDs in seven of his last eight games. The Bills should be able to move the ball efficiently in this game, and even as the Bills handed the ball off all game long against the Cowboys, Allen still got in.

The one risk with this bet is the big spread. Allen didn’t play the entirety of last week’s game, and there’s a risk of that in this one, too. That said, if Allen comes out, it’s overwhelmingly likely because the Bills have already been so efficient moving the ball that they’ve run up the score. In that case, Allen likely would have gotten an opportunity to score.
