Each week during the NFL season, I’ll assess NFL odds and write up my favorite wagers. I’ll take a look at odds for point spreads, moneyline odds, and totals throughout the season. These NFL picks are simply my favorites of the week, and I encourage readers to think critically and decide for themselves whether there’s any merit to the bets before adding to your bet slips, assigning big confidence pool points, or considering in NFL Survivor.

Let’s take a look at a couple of my favorite plays for NFL Week 3 odds. I’m backing the Giants as road underdogs and gambling that Jordan Love won’t take the field for Green Bay on Sunday.

NFL Week 3 Picks: Giants +6.5 (-102)

If you’re in confidence pools, this might be a decent contrarian option this week for leverage.

Last week, the Giants and Browns arguably had results fall the opposite way of what “should” have happened. That is, the Giants probably deserved better than their road loss to Washington, while the Browns were outplayed in an 18-13 win at Jacksonville.

In the Giants’ case, if Malik Nabers holds onto an uncontested short pass, the team is in a prime position to win the game. They’d have had a first down inside the red zone with two minutes left. Instead, the Commanders drove down and broke an 18-18 tie with a game-winning kick. It’s hard to blame Nabers too much, considering his heroics (10 catches, 127 yards) were the main reason New York was in the game.

Cleveland committed 100 yards in penalties and went 2-for-14 on third down. They got outgained 5.9 YPP to 4.6, usually a recipe for an easy loss. However, the Jags were just more committed to the loss and handed over the result.

I don’t see this line being close to a touchdown if the Browns were 0-2 as they should be.

Furthermore, the concern level for this offense is 10 out of 10. Deshaun Watson simply can’t connect with Amari Cooper — Cooper has a disgusting five catches on 17 targets. His only reliable target thus far has been David Njoku, who will be hobbled at best and out at worst.

Final Thoughts

I just can’t see this Cleveland team running away from anyone. I know the Giants are going to have a rough go on offense here, but they might only need 10-14 points to cover this number against a completely inept Browns offense. I think they can manage that, especially with Nabers emerging as a legitimate alpha wideout. Giants odds at +6.5 seems a couple of points too high.

NFL Week 3 Picks: Titans -2.5 (-110)

Will he or won’t he? The speculation has swirled again around Jordan Love, with the star QB taking the field in pads on Thursday.

One might have expected the market to keep creeping Green Bay’s way in the wake of that, but it’s been the opposite. After an initial move toward the Packers, Adam Schefter’s report that Love is “less than 50-50” to go on Sunday has the line inching back toward Titans odds -3.

If Malik Willis does indeed start, I don’t see that going well for Green Bay.

Yes, they managed a convincing Week 2 win against the Colts. However, that spot was much different than this one. That came at home against what appears to be a bad defense. This one is on the road against a defense I’m very much in on.

The Titans don’t share the Colts’ weaknesses up front. They’re fourth in Adjusted Line Yards. I don’t see Willis being able to hand off 25 times, watching Josh Jacobs romp, and calling it a day this time around. He’s probably going to have to make some plays, and I have zero confidence he can do so considering his dreadful track record.

Yes, Tennessee’s offensive metrics stink. But they faced the Jets and Bears, two defenses fairly likely to land in the top 10 when all’s said and done. The Packers aren’t likely to provide that sort of resistance, so it will come down to whether Will Levis can avoid the staggeringly boneheaded turnovers that fed blooper reels over the first two weeks.

Final Thoughts

If Love does play, I’ll be stuck holding a lemon here, but it’s called gambling for a reason. I’m skeptical that the Packers are going to risk the long-term health of their franchise player against a tough Titans defense. I fully expect Willis to start, and if that happens, I like the Titans here. This one has the potential to look silly, but that’s the way betting goes sometimes.
