NFL MVP Betting 2025: Opening Odds Favor Josh Allen & Lamar Jackson

While opening Super Bowl odds and the NFL draft odds dominate the football betting conversation in mid-February, it’s worth noting that NFL MVP markets have also opened. Let’s look at early odds for NFL MVP and consider whether anyone looks undervalued.

NFL MVP Odds

AFC QBs Leading The Way

Last season’s MVP race ended with a heads-up battle between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Though Jackson secured All-Pro honors and was heavily favored at the end of the season, Allen wound up taking the hardware in a narrow vote. He received 27 of 50 first-place votes, with Jackson taking the remainder.

Jackson has figured prominently in the voting, having already won twice. Allen won his first after years of near misses.

Both teams figure to have solid supporting casts again. It’s no surprise they’re leading the betting market here.

Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes aren’t too far behind, rounding out the “big four” of AFC quarterbacks.

Burrow had a monster statistical 2024. However, two questions dog his candidacy. Can the Bengals put enough defense around him to win some games? And will they retain Tee Higgins, a massive driver of Burrow’s production as an elite WR2?

Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense have a promising outlook, assuming Rashee Rice returns healthy. They’ll have two high-quality weapons with Rice and Xavier Worthy, plus top-flight play-calling from Andy Reid. Expect a bounce-back regular season campaign for this unit.

Possible NFL MVP Dark Horses?

A QB has won this award for 12 straight seasons. Despite a rare RB making a serious push with Saquon Barkley in 2024, we can expect nearly all contenders to be QBs.

Could Brock Purdy work his way back into contention? He nearly had the MVP in his grasp two seasons ago before a national TV blow-up that propelled rival Jackson to the trophy. The 49ers certainly have a chance to return to contention, with the market placing them in the second tier of Super Bowl contenders.

Michael Penix Jr. is another intriguing name. The Falcons should have another potent offense, and Penix had a respectable showing down the stretch. If they can patch up the defense, it isn’t hard to see Penix putting up some numbers on a division-winning team.
