NFL Opening Lines For Every Week Of The 2023 Season

The NFL’s always busy offseason enjoyed a big night on May 11 with the league rolling out its entire 18 week regular season schedule for 2023. NFL lines for every game are available to bet on now. In a landscape that includes an ever-expanding sports betting space, that also means it’s never too early to take a first glance at what appear to be the most attractive matchups on each weekly slate, as well as select opening lines for what could be some of the most consequential contests of the season.

Week 1

The NFL wastes no time capturing the football fan’s imagination to open the season, as the defending champion Chiefs will host the intriguing Lions on Thursday night in the league’s annual Kickoff Game. Week 2

The Week 2 slate begins with a Vikings-Eagles TNF showdown in Philadelphia that could certainly prove to be a postseason preview, given the talent on both squads. A Raiders cross-country visit to Buffalo will give Garoppolo a tough early test on his new squad in an environment he knows well from his AFC East days. The first Ravens-Bengals divisional showdown of the season and an early litmus test against the defending champion Chiefs for a Jaguars team expected to take another step forward this season are some of the marquee games on the early Sunday slate, while a Rodgers-Dak Prescott face-off in Big D, the first Dolphins-Patriots matchup of the season on Sunday night and a division-rivalry MNF doubleheader consisting of Saints-Panthers and Browns-Steelers battles close out the ledger.

Week 3

The Giants will be a heavily scrutinized team as they try to build on the highly encouraging start to the Brian Daboll Era in 2022, and New York’s thorny early schedule continues in a Thursday night matchup to kick off Week 3 against the 49ers at Levi Stadium. Notable early Sunday battles include a Saints-Packers meeting at Lambeau, a Russell Wilson-Tua Tagovailoa meet-up in South Florida, and Rodgers getting his first taste of the Patriots-Jets rivalry. The late window will see Justin Fields and Patrick Mahomes go head to head for the first time when the Bears visit the Chiefs, and a second consecutive MNF doubleheader includes a Bengals-Rams Super Bowl LVI rematch in Cincinnati.

Week 4

After a Lions-Packers NFC North battle kicks off the Week 4 slate on Thursday night, we’re treated to the debut of the 2023 International Series with a Falcons-Jaguars matchup in London’s Wembley Stadium. Later in the day, there’s the unfolding of the first Bills-Dolphins matchup of the season, following an intriguing three-game series last year that concluded with Miami giving Buffalo a scare in the AFC Wild Card Game with rookie quarterback Skylar Thompson. A Lamar Jackson-Deshaun Watson showdown in Cleveland is also an eye-catching game in the early window, and a Patriots-Cowboys clash in Dallas highlights the late portion of the schedule. However, the crown jewel of the slate could well be the SNF battle between the Chiefs and the Jets at MetLife Stadium, one KC opens a slim 1-point road favorite for.

Week 5

The Jaguars are set for a second straight London game to kick off this slate, with the scene shifting to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a showdown against the Bills. Bryce Young’s and the new-look Panthers’ visit to the Lions at Ford Field and a pair of intriguing interconference Giants-Dolphins and Saints-Patriots clashes populate the early window, and big-name quarterback matchups are a theme in a late window that includes Bengals-Cardinals, Jets-Broncos and Chiefs-Vikings tilts. Another installment of the classic Cowboys-49ers rivalry on Sunday night – which is also a rematch of postseason matchups between the teams the last two Januaries – is a fitting way to close out what should be an action-packed day.

Week 6

After Wilson and Mahomes start things off in an AFC West clash at Arrowhead on Thursday night, Vikings-Bears and 49ers-Browns matchups highlight the early-afternoon window of the slate Sunday following a Ravens-Titans morning affair in London. In the late window, Garoppolo faces off against his old Patriots squad, while Rodgers tangles with an old NFC nemesis when the Jets host the Eagles. Giants-Bills and Cowboys-Chargers primetime battles make for a marquee way to close out the ledger.

Week 7

A Jaguars-Saints interconference clash on Thursday night is followed by Lions-Ravens, Raiders-Bears and Bills-Patriots battles in the early window Sunday afternoon. The late portion of the schedule is highlighted by a Justin Herbert-Mahomes showdown at Arrowhead, while the Dolphins and Eagles and 49ers and Vikings will close out the schedule in primetime battles that should serve as good mid-season measuring sticks for each team.

Week 8

The first two quarterbacks taken in this April’s draft – Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud – go head to head in Carolina in one of the early window’s most interesting games. A trio of divisional clashes in Vikings-Packers, Patriots-Dolphins and Eagles-Commanders also populate the first part of the ledger, while a Lamar-Kyler Murray battle in the Arizona desert and a Bengals-49ers interconference tilt out west are main events of the late portion of the day. The primetime matchups keep the AFC-NFC theme, as the Bears tangle with the Chargers on Sunday night and the Raiders visit the Lions to cap the slate off 24 hours later.

Week 9

The highly anticipated Tyreek Hill-Chiefs reunion will take place overseas and kick off the Week 9 Sunday schedule as the Dolphins and Kansas City do battle in Germany. In the early portion of the day, Murray and Watson tangle when the Cardinals drop in on the Browns, and the Bears visit the Saints in a battle of what could ultimately be two NFC wild-card qualifiers. The later portion of the day includes a Cowboys-Eagles showdown and a marquee Bills-Bengals Sunday night rematch of January’s AFC divisional-round clash between the two teams. There’s no letdown Monday night, either, as Herbert and Rodgers do battle in the Big Apple in what should be a challenging cross-country test for the Bolts.

Week 10

Young and Fields face off for the first time on Thursday night to kick off the Week 10 slate as the Panthers pay a visit to Soldier Field. Then, after a Colts-Patriots morning battle in Frankfurt, Germany, 49ers-Jaguars and Saints-Vikings are among the most noteworthy games of the early afternoon portion of the Sunday schedule. In the late afternoon, another formidable interconference test awaits the Lions in a visit to the Chargers, while the Giants and Cowboys do battle in Texas as New York tries to avenge last year’s series sweep at the hands of their division rivals. The Jets-Raiders and Broncos-Bills matchups that close out the week should hold plenty of interest as well, especially with Sean Payton matching wits with Sean McDermott in the latter game.

Week 11

What could well prove to be a critical Bengals-Ravens mid-November battle will kick off the slate Thursday night, and Sunday’s early-afternoon Steelers-Browns, Bears-Lions and Titans-Jaguars divisional matchups could also be critical to how those teams’ divisions play out. A Raiders-Dolphins battle is another key part of the early slate, while the second Jets-Bills clash of the season spearheads the late-afternoon window. However, the most headline-grabbing battle of the week naturally figures to be the Super Bowl LVII rematch between the Eagles and Chiefs at Arrowhead, a game KC is an early 3-point home favorite for.  

Week 12

The Thanksgiving triple-header holds plenty of promise as division rivals face off throughout Turkey Day. The Lions’ annual curtain-jerker – often perceived as the “throwaway game” of the day thanks to Detroit’s extensive struggles – now is seen in a completely different light and features what could be a pivotal NFC North battle against the Packers. The Commanders and Cowboys and 49ers and Seahawks form the remainder of the holiday card leading into the first ever Black Friday battle, which will feature the Dolphins visiting the Jets. Sunday promises some exciting action as well, considering the Browns visit the Broncos, the Chiefs are at the Raiders and the Bills drop in on the Eagles in a possible Super Bowl preview. Ravens-Chargers and Bears-Vikings clashes in primetime close out the four-day ledger.

Week 13

The Seahawks-Cowboys slate opener Thursday night wraps up November and could be a key one for both teams as the stretch run begins in earnest, and the same could be true for a Cardinals-Steelers battle in the early-afternoon window Sunday. The latter portion of the ledger also holds plenty of intrigue, as we’re treated to a 49ers-Eagles NFC Championship Game rematch in Philly that the defending conference champs are early 2.5-point favorites for, a Chiefs-Packers Sunday night showdown in Lambeau and a big test for the Jaguars in the form of the visiting Bengals on Monday night.

Week 14

A game that could have AFC wild-card implications for both teams down the line unfolds in the first Thursday night game of December, a Patriots-Steelers clash in Pittsburgh. Buccaneers-Falcons, Lions-Bears and even Panthers-Saints early-window divisional battles on Sunday have the potential for the same, while a Vikings-Raiders interconference showdown in Vegas and the latest installment of the always entertaining Bills-Chiefs series – one KC is 3.5-point favorites for in the first-look line – headline the late window. The SNF matchup doesn’t lack for star power, either, as the Eagles tangle with the Cowboys in a game that could be instrumental in deciding the fate of the NFC East.

Week 15

Following a marquee AFC West matchup Thursday night between the Chargers and Raiders, Jets-Dolphins and Giants-Saints battles – along with yet-to-be-scheduled Vikings-Bengals, Bears-Browns and Broncos-Lions clashes – are all Sunday games that could have plenty of postseason implications. Then, a Cowboys-Bills duel in Buffalo serves as the late-afternoon main event for the moment, while Ravens-Jaguars and Chiefs-Patriots primetime battles should make for a momentous finish to an important late-season ledger.

Week 16

It’s one of those seasons where we’re treated to an avalanche of holiday NFL action with Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve featuring a full slate of games. In Week 16, we also have a pair of trademark late-season Saturday matchups in Bengals-Steelers and Bills-Chargers battles. Noteworthy Christmas Eve clashes from an offseason perspective include Lions-Vikings in the early portion of the day and a late-afternoon Cowboys-Dolphins affair in South Florida that figures to be important to both teams’ playoff positioning. Then, Christmas Day will have a Thanksgiving flavor, as there will also be a trio of headline battles – Raiders-Chiefs, Giants-Eagles and Ravens-49ers.

Week 17

The final Thursday night game of the season – a Jets-Browns battle in Cleveland -- kicks off the New Year’s slate, and the Lions-Cowboys matchup in Dallas makes for an appetizing follow-up on Saturday night. Then, there will likely be multiple teams looking to pop some champagne corks earlier than midnight in celebration of division titles or perhaps their conference’s top seed on Sunday. The day will be filled with what are expected to be playoff-relevant battles that include Dolphins-Ravens, Patriots-Bills, Chargers-Broncos and Bengals-Chiefs (Chiefs -3.5 in first-look line) contests. A Packers-Vikings NFC North clash then helps ring in 2024 on SNF.

Week 18

As customary, the final week of the regular season only has set opponents at this juncture but no game times. All contests are divisional clashes and take place on Sunday, January 8^th. Some of the games that appear likeliest, from a preseason perspective, to play a role in deciding division titles/playoff berths/postseason seeding include Seahawks-Cardinals, Steelers-Ravens, Browns-Bengals, Vikings-Lions, Chiefs-Chargers, Bills-Dolphins, Jets-Patriots and Eagles-Giants clashes. It’s also the one definite “wait and see” betting slate of the season, as there’s simply no telling what each team’s individual playoff scenario and corresponding personnel usage will be until much closer to the ledger actually unfolding.
