NFL INJURIES from WEEK 10
Here’s a roundup of the most notable NFL injuries to monitor before Week 11.
Atlanta Falcons
- QB Taylor Heinicke
Heinicke suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s 25-23 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Luckily, he has time to use the team’s bye week to heal his hamstring. A decision for who will be taking snaps under center against the New Orleans Saints will likely be on hold for the next few days.
Baltimore Ravens
- OT Ronnie Stanley
- CB Marlon Humphrey
The Ravens suffered key injuries in Sunday’s loss to the Browns. Star cornerback Marlon Humphrey suffered a calf strain and left tackle Ronnie Stanley suffered a knee injury. Fortunately, Humphrey seems to have avoided a disastrous Achilles injury. He’s considered day-to-day, and his status for Thursday’s game is up in the air.
Please look for Tuesday’s practice report to get a further update on both players’ status for Thursday night.
Carolina Panthers
- CB Jaycee Horn
The team announced on Monday that cornerback Jaycee Horn has returned to practice. Horn’s 21-day activation window has been opened as a result. He must be activated within that span to avoid reverting to season-ending injured reserve. Horn has been eligible to return for some time now, but it was evident when he was initially placed on IR that a lengthy absence would be coming. A hamstring injury has kept the 23-year-old sidelined since Week 1.
Cleveland Browns
- QB Deshaun Watson
- CB Denzel Ward
After the Browns ‘ win over the Ravens, Watson was seen in a walking boot but said he’d be ready to go for the team’s Week 11 meeting with Pittsburgh. Sources classified Browns corner Denzel Ward’s injury from Sunday as a minor neck strain. “He is going to be fine,” the source said.
Los Angeles Rams
- QB Matthew Stafford
- When will Kyren Williams play?
Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed Stafford will return from a right thumb injury this week against the Seahawks.
Miami Dolphins
- RB De’Von Achane
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel met with the media on Monday and confirmed the team could soon see rookie running back De’Von Achane back on the field. Achane has been on injured reserve since sustaining a knee injury against the New York Giants in early October. McDaniel indicated the injury was a “strain-type injury” that nothing was torn in the knee, and that the team has been very conservative in their rehabilitation process for the rookie.
McDaniel indicated the team has now designated Achane for return from injured reserve, officially opening the running back’s 21-day practice window. The team now has three weeks to either activate him, bringing him back to the 53-man roster or leave him on the IR list for the remainder of the season.
Minnesota Vikings
- RB Alexander Mattison
- When will Justin Jefferson return from injury?
Mattison suffered concussion symptoms during the Vikings’ Week 10 win over the Saints, prompting Minnesota to sign Myles Gaskin Monday morning, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Vikings running back is down its top two running backs after Cam Akers suffered a season-ending torn Achilles injury in Week 9. Mattison seems likely out for week 11 with a concussion.
New Orleans Saints
- QB Derek Carr
- CB Marshon Lattimore
- WR Michael Thomas
Saints quarterback Derek Carr (right shoulder/concussion), wide receiver Michael Thomas (knee) and cornerback Marshon Lattimore (ankle) all made early exits, with both Carr and Lattimore leaving on a cart.
Saints coach Dennis Allen said Carr was ruled out of the game due to the concussion and is in protocol. Meanwhile, Thomas and Lattimore both suffered “fairly significant injuries” on Sunday, per Allen. The coach noted that he doesn’t see them as season-ending injuries, but both players are getting second opinions and will rehab through the bye week. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Lattimore is considered week to week with a high ankle sprain, per a source.
New York Jets
- QB Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers, 39, has been talking about potentially returning during the 2023 NFL season from when he underwent surgery on his torn Achilles tendon. Rodgers told Sunday Night Football reporter Melissa Stark his goal is to play sometime in mid-December. “I know it sounds insane, but if you do a good surgery, have a good patient, it makes this possible,” the quarterback told Stark.
Matt Burke has more on a potential Aaron Rodgers return.
Pittsburgh Steelers
- LB Kwon Alexander
Kwon Alexander left the Steelers’ game against Green Bay on Sunday, with ESPN later reporting that the linebacker suffered a season-ending torn Achilles. The Steelers were already thin at inside linebacker, as Cole Holcomb is out for the year due to a knee injury.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- QB Baker Mayfield
Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield suffered a thumb injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 20-6 win over the Titans. Mayfield hit his right thumb on the helmet of a Titans defender after a throw. The injury was minor and should not be a concern moving forward. On Monday, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles confirmed the lack of concern in his press conference.
