NFL INJURIES from WEEK 9

Here’s a roundup of the most notable NFL injuries to monitor before Week 10.

Atlanta Falcons

  • RB Cordarrelle Patterson
  • WR Drake London
  • WR Mack Hollins
  • CB Dee Alford

Falcons head coach Arthur Smith provided some injury updates during his Monday press conference. Smith told reporters that Patterson should be good to go this week. However, he wasn’t as confident about Alford or Hollins, per team reporter Terrin Waack.

After missing Week 9, Smith also noted he’s hopeful top wideout Drake London will return from a groin injury.

If so, Falcons backers are just hopeful Art Smith calls plays to throw London the ball.

Editor’s Note

Carolina Panthers

  • LB Brian Burns

Edge rusher Brian Burns will likely not be playing in his team’s Thursday night matchup with the Bears. Burns suffered a concussion during the Panthers’ Week 9 loss to the Colts. With the short turnaround for Carolina heading into Week 10, Burns taking the field against the Bears seems unrealistic. “I’m not even thinking there’s any chance of getting him [back for Thursday], honestly,” said Panthers head coach Frank Reich.

Cleveland Browns

  • T Jedrick Wills

Coach Kevin Stefanski said that left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. will go on injured reserve with an MCL injury in his right knee. Stefanski said the injury would not end Wills’ season. The IR designation means he will miss at least four games, so the soonest he could be eligible to return would be Week 14 against Jacksonville.

Green Bay Packers

  • WR Christian Watson

Watson had to exit Sunday’s victory over the Rams early with multiple injuries. It sounds like Watson should be okay in the future. Head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters in his Monday press conference that Watson was not diagnosed with a concussion and there aren’t long-term concerns about Watson’s back and chest.

Indianapolis Colts

  • WR Josh Downs

Rookie receiver Josh Downs was ruled out for the remainder of Sunday’s 27-13 win over the Carolina Panthers due to a knee injury. Downs was limited in practice Thursday and Friday with a knee injury and was considered questionable entering the game. He then left in the first half and was said to be questionable because of the knee issue. He was subsequently ruled out after halftime, having caught one pass for 10 yards.

Minnesota Vikings

  • RB Cam Akers
  • WR KJ Osborn

Akers, who was traded to the Vikings earlier this fall from the Rams, was carted off the field Sunday afternoon in Atlanta. Head coach Kevin O’Connell said after the Vikings’ comeback win over the Falcons that Akers likely sustained an Achilles injury, which would end his season. Per multiple reports, those fears were confirmed Monday, as Akers reportedly has a torn Achilles.

Head Coach Kevin O’Connell joined the Pat McAfee show on Monday afternoon to give an update on his injured players and said Osborn was “responding well” to protocol.

New York Giants

  • QB Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones’ season is over after an MRI exam confirmed he tore the ACL in his right knee on Sunday. Jones returned to the lineup against the Raiders after missing three games with a neck injury, only to suffer a non-contact knee injury in the second quarter. With veteran No. 2 Tyrod Taylor already sidelined and on injured reserve with a rib issue, undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito took over under center for New York.

Philadelphia Eagles

  • TE Dallas Goedert

Head Coach Nick Siranni updated the team’s injury situation on Monday. He said that tight end Dallas Goedert will miss an undetermined amount of time after reportedly suffering a fractured forearm in Sunday’s 28-23 win over Dallas.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • CB Jamel Dean

Starting cornerback Jamel Dean suffered a concussion in the first quarter of Sunday’s 39-37 loss to the Texans. His status for Week 10 remains undetermined.
