afc betting expectations

Both the Jets and Browns possess reasonably high expectations in 2023, especially in regards to their NFL win totals. The market has them a tick under 10 wins — with each of their vig headed in opposite directions. You can place a wager on this market by clicking on any of the odds from Caesars or BetMGM Sportsbook below. Cleveland represents an intriguing commodity among “sharp bettors,” as three-time Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson will get a full season under center after serving a 12-game suspension to kick off 2022.

Neither Watson nor Rodgers are expected to play much, if any, in this game. So which betting angle is worth pondering?

Appraising Hall Of Fame Game Odds

Prior to last season’s matchup between the Raiders and Jaguars, the under was 5-1 in the previous six Hall of Fame games, clearing the total by roughly eight points per game. However, trends aren’t necessarily a bettor’s friend. Not only did the full-game total wind up going over after closing at 30.5, but the first-half over also cashed. The latter market for 2023 Hall of Fame Game odds has yet to be released at the time of publish.

BetMGM has already seen heavy action on the conventional total. Specifically, 82% of the money and 75% of the tickets are on under 33.5.

The mindset behind this position is rather simple. With both teams using third- and fourth-string pieces come the second half, both the pace and execution should undergo a dip. But that notion doesn’t always come to fruition when the potential for variance is in play. For the most part, these names are unknown commodities — both at the professional level and when it concerns their ability to execute.

As for the remainder of the Hall of Fame entertainment, Browns star left tackle Joe Thomas and Jets greats Joe Klecko and Darrelle Revis are among the nine inductees headed into the Hall Aug. 5.
