NFL Comeback Player Of The Year Odds: Can Russell Wilson or Joe Flacco Win?

We’ve entered the final stretch of the NFL season, and bettors are still unsure who will win NFL Comeback Player of the Year. Damar Hamlin remains the favorite, but I think there’s a path for Russell Wilson. Let’s dive into current odds to see if anyone is worth a bet for NFL Comeback Player of the Year odds at the best sports betting sites this week.

Russell Wilson CPOY Odds ()

Wilson entered Sunday at +1900 at FanDuel to win CPOY. With the Chiefs losing and the Broncos winning, his odds dipped where you see them today. Denver currently sits a game behind Kansas City in the AFC West, but there’s potential for Sean Payton’s squad to overtake the reeling Chiefs. They need to win out, plus have the Chiefs lose two of their last four games, but anything is possible now.

The defense has pulled a complete 180 while Russell Wilson has started to “cook.” The veteran signal-caller is tied for first in the NFL in CPOE with 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Wilson would be a different candidate to win this award, though. He only missed two games a year ago, one due to a hamstring injury and another to a concussion. This isn’t a traditional “season-ending” injury we see players return from.

Yet, Wilson is on pace for his best statistical season since 2020, when he was with Seattle. That year, Wilson threw for 4,212 yards and 40 touchdowns while guiding Pete Carrol’s squad to a 12-4 record and an NFC West division crown. He’s not going to hit the 40-touchdown mark; however, he should notch 30, and he has a chance to guide the Broncos to the playoffs. Last year was, admittedly, an utter disaster with Nathaniel Hackett at the helm, but this bounce-back season Wilson is having is not likely to go unnoticed when it’s time for voters to turn in their ballots.

Joe Flacco CPOY Odds ()

As it stands today, the Browns are the fifth seed in the AFC playoff picture. If they hadn’t gone out and signed the 38-year-old quarterback, their playoff hopes could have taken a massive hit with either Dorian Thompson-Robinson or the abysmal P.J. Walker leading them the rest of the way.

Flacco gives the Browns’ offense the ability to move the ball down the field, whereas Robinson and Walker have struggled mightily. He could get credit down the stretch here if he guides the team to a 12-5 record. Their defense can also help them compile wins, as they’re first in EPA/play and are led by one of the front runners in the DPOY market in Myles Garrett.

If the Browns rip off four more victories the rest of the way, much of the credit will likely go to Garrett and the defense. At the same time, Flacco will get a massive amount of credit for saving their season. I think Flacco can win this award, given their advantageous schedule down the stretch. A bet on him will likely age extremely well if they continue to stack wins.

Aaron Rodgers CPOY Odds ()

The Jets’ win over the Texans was massive for their playoff hopes. In turn, Rodgers could have something to return for on Dec. 24. On Monday, news broke that Rodgers is expected to be medically cleared for action before the Week 16 tilt against Washington.

At the time, FanDuel had him priced at +6000 to win CPOY. An hour later, his odds sliced down to +2900. We have no clue if Rodgers will come back now. However, the Jets have something to play for now, and so does Rodgers.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON CPOY ODDS

It’s possible that voters will give this award to Bills safety Damar Hamlin, regardless. Perhaps the market is indicating that Hamlin wins, as his best price available is .

That said, some scenarios could play out here where voters give it to a quarterback. A quarterback has won the past five years, so it would make sense that it goes to another one this season. Best of luck betting CPOY odds.
