Should he return, it would be a medical miracle, but it also could result in him winning Comeback Player of the Year. We’ve never seen a player return from this injury this quickly before, making it unique in that sense.

The closest we’ve seen was when Rams running back Cam Akers tore his Achilles two years ago and returned in five months. Quarterbacks don’t need the same explosive power in their legs as running backs or other positional players do, though, so Rodgers might actually do this.

Dobbs is one of the biggest movers in this market over the weekend. Before kickoff on Sunday, you could’ve bet Dobbs at +6000 at DraftKings Sportsbook. During their game against Atlanta, Dobbs’ odds were shortening at DraftKings Sportsbook from +2500 down to +1500 and eventually to +1000.

Minnesota decided after the Kirk Cousins’ Achilles injury they weren’t giving up on the season and decided to trade for Dobbs. He wasn’t supposed to play this weekend but was forced into action when rookie QB Jaren Hall suffered a concussion. After a 5-yard touchdown run by Tyler Allgeier, Dobbs led an impressive 75-yard touchdown drive to win the game.

As the standings currently sit, the Vikings would be in the playoffs, having the tiebreaker over the Saints. It would be odd to give this award to a player who didn’t return from injury since Dobbs played last year for the Titans. That said, Geno Smith won the award last season, and he didn’t suffer a season-ending injury in 2021. Smith became the starter for the Seahawks and threw for 30 touchdowns, eventually leading the Seahawks to the playoffs. Dobbs’ route is eerily similar since he’s not returning from a significant injury and can lead the team to the playoffs.

He arrives to an offense that is flush with talent, with T.J. Hockenson, Jordan Addison, and Justin Jefferson eventually coming back from injury. If Dobbs can put up impressive numbers with this group and lead them to the playoffs, he’ll certainly have a case for CPOY. Kevin O’Connell’s squad has a relatively easy schedule remaining, with games against the Bears, Packers, Raiders and Broncos left. This remains one of the most fascinating awards markets of the 2023-24 season. If it hadn’t been for the Cousins injury, Dobbs wouldn’t even be in the running for this one. This trade has thrown a massive wrench into the CPOY award that has left bettors completely blindsided.

Hamlin being inactive continues to make this an interesting betting market. We truly don’t know who will win this award at this point. However, flyers on these quarterbacks at long odds are becoming more intriguing by the week with Hamlin’s inactivity mounting.

Bettors should note that this has mostly been a quarterback award, with the last five winners being quarterbacks. A situation could play out where Dobbs leads the Vikings to the playoffs, and Rodgers returns and wins the CPOY award.
