His creativity to free up the top playmakers — Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill– has increased pressure on opposing defenses early on. In terms of EPA, the Dolphins offense is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the AFC through two weeks. McDaniel’s offense, paired with the weapons at receiver, has made Miami a viable contender in the AFC.

The offense sputtered down the stretch and was bottom eight in EPA during a four-week stretch of games. Fast forward to today, and the Commanders are sitting at league average through two games. It may seem insignificant to some, but Washington’s offense may be catching up with their defense.

Despite being torched by Sean Payton and the Broncos in Week 2, the defense still ranks top-11 in EPA. When healthy, they also possess one of the most disruptive front fours in the league, with Chase Young, Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, and Montez Sweat. This front has already wreaked havoc, notching 21 pressures (8th) and 10 sacks, tied with Dallas for the most. This front makes Washington dangerous in the NFC East, and the market may still need to adjust for them to be good.

Mike McCarthy

McCarthy’s Cowboys squad has looked downright terrifying through two weeks of play. Offensively, they rank eighth in EPA. Defensively, they rank first in the NFL; however, that number is slightly inflated. Their matchup against Zach Wilson last week netted them a whopping four turnovers.

They have a matchup against the 49ers in Week 5 on Sunday night; if Dallas can pull off the upset, McCarthy will be positioning himself nicely to win this. He may not be a popular choice to win the award, but if they overtake the Eagles in the NFC East, McCarthy may get credit here.
